Summary: Signs and wonders are believed to have ceased after the ascension of Jesus Christ and His first Apostles but we are assured that in Mark 16:17 that “these signs shall follow them that believe…”. Till date, miracles are daily occurrences among Christian believers and the world.

SIGNS AND WONDERS 2
TEXT: MARK 16:17-18
INTRODUCTION
Signs and wonders are believed to have ceased after the ascension of Jesus Christ and His first Apostles but we are assured that in Mark 16:17 that “these signs shall follow them that believe…”. Till date, miracles are daily occurrences among Christian believers and the world.
THE PURPOSE OF SIGNS AND WONDERS
1) To strengthen our faith and builds courage in God: Luke 10:17
The manifestations of signs and wonders in the church strengthen our faith and especially among the young converts. We are encouraged that God is able to deliver and faithful to serve. In times of waiting and trials, what should a believer do to strengthen his faith in order not to speak against God until his miracle happens? Use scriptural examples
2) To give the church a voice of authority and power: Romans 15:18-19, Acts 4:29-31
3) To pave way for the salvation of souls: John 3:1-3
Jesus Christ received praises from Nicodemus for His teachings and miracles but Jesus saw that he needed something more important then He preached to him to be born again.
How can we achieve soul winning when the interest of the person is on miracles alone?
4) To subdue the powers of Satan and magnify the supremacy of God: Acts 13:8-11
The manifestation of God’s power for miracles subdues and exposes the counterfeit power of Satan. What is the best approach in handling witches and sorcerers especially in our living places as Christians?
HOW TO RECEIVE THE POWER
It is important to note that we must first be born again, remain Holy and have a good mutual relationship with God through the word of God and His Spirit.
1) Divine appointment : Exodus 3, Judges 13:7
2) Laying on of hands : Acts 8:17, 2 Timothy 1:6
How can we explain 1 Timothy 5:22?
3) Personal and cooperate prayers: Acts 2:1-4
4) Rendering faithful services to God and His servants: Joshua 1:1, 2 Kings 2:9-14
In the above listed ways to receive the power, is any better than the others? Are there people who are not born again or backsliding Christians that operate in signs and wonders? If yes, what are the dangers in associating with such people?
THE BASIC TOOLS FOR SIGNS AND WONDERS
1) Faith in God: Luke 17:6
2) The Name of Jesus Christ : Philippians 2:10
3) The Blood of Jesus Christ : 1Peter 2:24
4) The Word of God: Hebrews 4:12
5) Fasting and Prayers : Matthew 17:21
CONCLUSION: We are to seek for the power of God and begin exercising the power because it is perfected and grows better when it is being used.
