Summary: At times, we fail to discern the will of God and the guidance of the Holy Spirit when we have unrighteousness in our life.

Luke 2:27”And he came in the Spirit into the temple, and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him according to the custom of the Law, 28 he took him up in his arms and blessed God….”

Today too often we hear the words ‘led by the Holy Spirit’ among the Christian circle, so much so people have lost faith in those words: I was led by the Holy Spirit to wear this dress, to take this bus, to cook this food and to buy this mobile and so on… I heard one particular pastor tell me that he was led by the Holy Spirit to only worship on a particular Sunday morning service and not preach the Word. People do some weird things and attribute it to the work of the Holy Spirit; however, today I want to speak to you about how Simeon was accurately and spectacularly led by the Holy Spirit.

The Bible describes Simeon as “righteous and devout man, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him.” (Luke 2:25) At times, we fail to discern the will of God and the guidance of the Holy Spirit when we have unrighteousness in our life. When we are righteous, patient and devoted like Simeon then we would also hear the voice of the Holy Spirit. Are you hearing me?

I do not know how long Simeon waited, I do not know how many would have discouraged him from waiting, I do not know how painful the waiting would have been but I do know from the Bible that Simeon trusted the Words of the Holy Spirit when He said, ‘you would not see death until you had seen Christ!’ Amen. Let us cling to the Words of God like Simeon! One fine day, while he was getting ready to wait like any other days, he felt the nudge of the Holy Spirit and he heard Him say, ‘go to the temple, Jesus Christ is coming today!’ Hallelujah! Simeon wasted no time but ran to the temple and saw Mary and Joseph bring Jesus Christ into the temple – this was no accident, this was no coincidence, this was pure leading of the Holy Spirit. Can someone give Him a praise offering please! It is not over yet, Simeon reached out to the parents and took the baby in his arms …no, no…”he took up the Lord in his arms and blessed God and said, 29 Lord, now you are letting your servant depart in peace, according to your word..” The Bible says Simeon carried the Lord Jesus and also blessed Him! What a privilege!

Such miracles and unexpected surprises come to people who trust Him and wait upon Him! Amen.

Friend, when you know you are in the right path and walking right, with God by your side, you need not have the road map with you, trust Him wholeheartedly to take you through. It might be eerie when you attempt to do it the first time, but as you trust and walk with Him, you know He would never ever fail. Amen. With no team or proper help around, with no proper auditorium and many other infrastructure to conduct a three days training camp for ‘Soldiers-in-Christ’; yet, we obeyed His voice and conducted the camp in the new city Hyderabad that we relocated five years back. God was good and helped us. Click to view the pictures.
