I. EXORDIUM:
Please raise your hands if you have seen the Powerful GOD in action.
II. AUDIENCE PROFILE:
Arcontica, Cardinal, Sitio Visaya and Villa Luisa Homes
III. OBJECTIVES:
To display GOD's Power and Authority.
IV. TEXT:
Nah 1:2 The LORD is a jealous God. The LORD punishes the guilty, and he is very angry. The LORD punishes his enemies, and he stays angry with them.
Nah 1:3 The LORD is patient, but he is also very powerful! The LORD will punish the guilty; he will not let them go free. He will use whirlwinds and storms to show his power. People walk on the dusty ground, but he walks on the clouds.
Nah 1:4 He will speak harshly to the sea, and it will become dry. He will dry up all the rivers. The rich lands of Bashan and Carmel become dry and dead. The flowers in Lebanon fade away.
PRAY: Pray that the Sovereign LORD will display His love, and mercy to us and thru us.
V. THESIS:

VI. TITLE:
SOVEREIGN LORD PART 2
VII. EXPLICATION:
A. Author: Nahum. Little is known about Nahum. Nahum means "compassionate" or "full of comfort."
B. Date: Before fall of Nineveh
C. Theme: Destruction of Nineveh
D. Setting: Regarded by bible scholars as sequel to Jonah. After Assyrians have repented due to Jonah's preaching, they relapsed into gross idolatry. They plundered other nations including Judah. Nineveh - capital of Assyria.
E. Purpose: to pronounce divine vengeance upon the bloody city, Nineveh.
VIII. MAIN BODY:
A. God is a Jealous God. (Exodus 20:5, Deuteronomy 4:24)
Don't worship or serve idols of any kind, because I, the LORD, am your God. I hate my people worshiping other gods. People who sin against me become my enemies, and I will punish them. And I will punish their children, their grandchildren, and even their great-grandchildren.
because the LORD your God hates for his people to worship other gods. And he can be like a fire that destroys!
B. He takes revenge of His enemies.
1. Example of Nineveh vs. Judah
C. He reserves His wrath on His enemies.
1. Example of Egypt vs. Israel
a. Egypt vs. Gaza
D. God is slow to anger but He's All-Powerful (Exodus 34:6)
That is, the LORD passed in front of Moses and said, "YAHWEH, the LORD, is a kind and merciful God. He is slow to become angry. He is full of great love. He can be trusted.
1. God will destroy everything in the future but will reserve New Heaven and New Earth for us. (2 Peter 3:11-13)
2Pe 3:11 Everything will be destroyed in this way. So what kind of people should you be? Your lives should be holy and devoted to God.
2Pe 3:12 You should be looking forward to the day of God, wanting more than anything else for it to come soon. When it comes, the sky will be destroyed with fire, and everything in the sky will melt with heat.
2Pe 3:13 But God made a promise to us. And we are waiting for what he promised--a new sky and a new earth. That will be the place where goodness lives.
E. He surely punishes anyone who sins.
1. Judas (Acts 1:16-25)
Act 1:16 "My friends," he said, "the scripture had to come true in which the Holy Spirit, speaking through David, made a prediction about Judas, who was the guide for those who arrested Jesus.
Act 1:17 Judas was a member of our group, for he had been chosen to have a part in our work."
Act 1:18 (With the money that Judas got for his evil act he bought a field, where he fell to his death; he burst open and all his insides spilled out.
Act 1:19 All the people living in Jerusalem heard about it, and so in their own language they call that field Akeldama, which means "Field of Blood.")
Act 1:20 "For it is written in the book of Psalms, 'May his house become empty; may no one live in it.' It is also written, 'May someone else take his place of service.'
Act 1:21 "So then, someone must join us as a witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. He must be one of the men who were in our group during the whole time that the Lord Jesus traveled about with us, beginning from the time John preached his message of baptism until the day Jesus was taken up from us to heaven."

Act 1:23 So they proposed two men: Joseph, who was called Barsabbas (also known as Justus), and Matthias.
Act 1:24 Then they prayed, "Lord, you know the thoughts of everyone, so show us which of these two you have chosen
