Matthew 28:19-20

Introduction:

Over the last few weeks Mr. Nelson has been talking to you guys about some very important things. He talked about loving God. He also talked about loving others. When Jesus taught the disciples about these two things He called them the two greatest commandments. Today I’m going tell you about a way we can do the two most important things Jesus talked about.

Prayer

In this verse Jesus tells us to tell the world about Him. By telling others about Him we’re obeying His two greatest commands. We’re showing God we love Him by obeying His Son, and were showing others we love them by telling them the most important thing the could ever hear.

I think the best place to start is to first understand what it is Jesus did for you. If you don’t know about Him, how are you going to tell others about Him? Jesus died for your sins. Sin is what separates you from God. Anything you do that hurts God is sin. He loves you and wants you to be with Him, so He sent His Son to earth in the form of a man named Jesus. Jesus was hated by many and they killed Him. But what they didn’t know was that by killing Him they gave us eternal life. You see, when you sin you can’t go to Heaven, unless you accept Jesus as your savior. Jesus can save you from your sins. All you have to do is pray to God. When you pray ask Him to forgive you of your sins. Tell Him you believe in His Son Jesus Christ. Once you do this you can go to Heaven. Once you do this, God wants you to tell others, so they can go to Heaven too.

There are many ways you can tell others about Jesus. I want to talk about a few of them today.

1. You can tell others about Jesus by the way you live. If you do things in a way that is pleasing to God others will notice. You might not see them noticing, but they will. Everyone around you will notice something different about you. That’s where W.W.J.D. comes in. I think all of you know what that means. What would Jesus do? Before you do something you’re not sure of, think about W.W.J.D. Are you going to honor God by doing what you’re about to do? If not, you probably shouldn’t do it.

2. Another way you can tell others about Jesus is to TELL OTHERS ABOUT JESUS ! Sometimes you have to actually open your mouth and talk. I’m pretty sure most of you know how to talk. Just make sure when you tell other about Jesus you tell them about what He has done for you. Tell them about sin and what happens when they accept Jesus into their hearts.

3. Telling others about Jesus is kind of like when you have a party. When you have a party you make invitations for every one you want invite. Then after you make the invitations you take them to the post office and mail them. Well, God made invitations for everyone in the world to accept His Son Jesus into their hearts, and we are God’s post office. He wants us to tell everyone they’re invited! We have to tell the whole world! That means we have to invite everyone we can to children’s church, and to disciple land on Wednesday, and to everywhere else we go where some one will be teaching about Jesus. That way when they understand what Jesus can do for them they will accept Him into their hearts too.

4. We can also help others tell others about Jesus too. That’s where missionaries come in. A missionary is a person who goes somewhere they’re not from just to tell people about Jesus. Missionaries are all over the world. They’re even right here in the United States. We can be missionaries right here. We can be missionaries everywhere. We can be missionaries here be praying for our missionaries who aren’t home. They might be scared, or lonely and need some kind of help. We can help them by praying for them. We can also help them be sending them money. If we send them money they can get things they need like food, clothes, and Bibles. They don’t always have the money they need to do what they need to do. So people like you and I can send them money, then they can tell others all over the world.

Close:

The amazing gift God has given us in the form of His Son is like a fire. Has anyone ever heard someone say they’re on fire for God? That’s what they’re talking about. They have a fire of love inside of them. But let me tell you about fire. It spreads out. Fire causes other things to be on fire. If we are on fire for Jesus, then we need to spread the message, we have to spread the fire. If fire doesn’t spread it goes out. We don’t want our fires to go out do we? NO! We want our fire to spread as far and as fast as it can, so that everyone can have the love of Jesus in their lives. We have to tell others.
