Summary: You may not be called to a foreign land, but you must be ready to move a moments' notice when the Spirit call.

'The Call' pt.1 from the sermon series 'Lessons From Macedonia' Acts 16:6-11

Maybe God won't call you to a foreign land, but wherever or whatever He calls you to, you must be ready to respond. Even though Paul and his fellow laborers were deeply entrenched in the work and will of the Lord, they had to be ready to move at a moments' notice when the Spirit called.

1.The call:

a.was clear v9 'a vision'

b.was concise v9 'come over into Macedonia, and help us'

c.was conflicting v6-8 they were already busy for the Lord..what should they do - what would you do?

2.The call was given as a result of:

a.their faithfulness

b.their fruitfulness

c.their fellowship (with the Lord)

Your call will come as a result of these factors also

3.The call came because someone:

a.needed help

b.needed hope

c.needed to hear

Someone in your world is in this condition...you must listen for His voice

4.When you hear the call, you must:

a.obey immediately (do not procrastinate) v10

b.obey exactly v11 'straight course'

c.obey boldly

5.Obeying His call will result in:

a.His power (His calling is His enabling)

b.His grace

c.His blessing

d.His comfort

2 Corinthians 7:5-6 For, when we were come to Macedonia, our flesh had no rest, but we were troubled on every side; without were fightings, within were fears.

Nevertheless God, that comforteth those that are cast down, comforted us by the coming of Titus.

Remember that God always provides a ram in the thicket. He is Jehovah-Jireh...He gives me what I need when I need it...even comfort; He will send your Titus.

6.When he calls you He will:

a.engage you (fight against;join in battle with;wage war against)

b.encourage you (He is the God of all comfort who comforts us in all our tribulation...

2 Corinthians 1:3b-4a

c.enable you (if He calls you to it, He will see you through it)

When He calls me I will answer...I'll be somewhere listening for my name!

Heed the call!
