A. The CHARACTER of God. (13:20) Psalm 111:9; Matthew 5:48; 1 John 3:3; Psalm 145:9; 1 Thessalonians 5:24; 1 John 4:8, 16
1. God is the God of PEACE. (13:20a) 1 Corinthians 14:33; Romans 16:20; 1 Thessalonians 5:23
i. He establishes peace with God at our SALVATION. Propitiation Romans 5:1; 10; 1 John 2:1-2; Ephesians 2:14; Isaiah 26:12
ii. He manifests peace of God through SUPPLICATION. prayer Philippians 4:6-7; Galatians 5:22-23; Isaiah 26:3
2. God is the God who keeps His PROMISES. (13:20b) Numbers 23:19; 1 Samuel 15:29; Joshua 21:45; 23:14; 1 Kings 8:56
i. Christ is Our SHEPHERD. (13:20b) John 10:11, 14, 27-29; Ezekiel 34:11-12, 23-24; 1 Peter 2:25; 5:4
ii. We are Christ’s SHEEP. (13:20b) Matthew 1:21; (contrast John 10:26-27); Isaiah 40:11
iii. Christ is Our SIN – SACRIFICE. (13:20c) through the blood of the eternal covenant Romans 5:6, 8, 10; 2 Corinthians 5:21; 1 Peter 1:19-20; Revelation 13:8)
