Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. - Ephesians 6:13

We are always preparing for something in life. If we are studying in school we are preparing for tests, exams and finals. If we are in sports we are training for the sports season. Everything in life takes preparation. We do not just live life not caring and taking everything as it comes. Rather most people at times know there needs to be preparation, study and a plan for things coming later in life. In the same way the teaching of the Apostle Paul to the Ephesians echoes this need to prepare. He speaks of coming evil day where we will need to overcome and be ready. What is the evil day he is speaking of? Many commentators skip over this reference as not relevant for modern believers in the Lord. Yet it seems this was the heart-beat of the early Christians that they knew a great time of testing was going to come before the Lord returned for the second time to bring them to the Heavenly Kingdom.

The passage tells us that we need all the armour of God to help us withstand the attacks of our enemy satan and all his principalities and powers. Our Lord Jesus teaches us in the Gospels that many will start to lose faith in the end times and even be deceived by demons (1 Timothy 4:1, Matthew 24:10). What is encouraging is the Lord has given us everything we need to overcome in that last evil time where the unholy forces of satan will be unleashed on the earth. The book of Revelation speaks of great demonic activity in the world and wickedness greater then the days of Noah. Be encouraged that God has given you in Christ Jesus all you need for that time. Seek to abide in Him know asking him for the faith to withstand in the coming time. God is faithful he has begun an excellent work in you that will prevail to the end as we actively trust in Him.
