Summary: A divided nation cannot stand. That's not my words, but the words of Jesus. Over the past few years, America has become more and more divided. How long can we stand?

Scripture Reference: Leviticus 26:14-31

Preached at Mount Zion Baptist Church on October 28, 2018

Delivered by Rev. John Daniel Johnson

Truth: From the beginning of America’s foundation, we were founded on biblical principles. We left Europe with the hope of being free to worship God. Our nation continued to rise in power: economically, politically, and militarily. By the end of WWII, America was unquestionably the leader of the free world. That was one of our main thoughts in last weeks’ message.

Last week our main topic was to discovery why America is not in the Bible. With all the Scriptures of prophecy, how was it possible that America is not mentioned one time?

Today, we’ll be concluding our sermon series, just in time for the mid-term election. This morning I have gone full Baptist on you. We were taught in Seminary to have a three point sermon when giving a message. Three points are easier to remember. So, this morning please join me as we discover:

1. America’s Problem & Punishment

2. America’s Proposition

3. America’s Promise

Let’s read the 26th Chapter of Leviticus to see what the LORD would have to know this morning. Now, please understand when I say this. This passage was given to the chosen people of Israel. God gave a warning and a promise to His people. If they chose Him…He would choose them. From the beginning, America chose the LORD. History proves that our Nation was founded upon Him. Also, we know that as Christians we are grafted into the same promises of Israel. So let’s see what the LORD wants to tell His people today.

Read Scripture (Leviticus 26:14-16)

“But if you do not obey Me, and do not observe all these

commandments, 15and if you despise My statutes, or if your soul abhors

My judgments, so that you do not perform all My commandments, but

break My covenant, 16I also will do this to you…”

When we read God’s Word, we will notice that there are many different types of commandments and laws that His people were to keep. Those laws fit into three categories:

1. The Ceremonial Law

The ceremonial law revolves around the various feasts (Feast of Tabernacles, Feast of Booth, etc.) the Jews were required keep. All of these feasts were to remember Israel's past victories and the coming of the Messiah. Christians are not required to keep these when Jesus came He fulfilled these!

2. The Sacrificial Law

The sacrificial law described what type of sacrifices would be offered for sin, how often to offer those sacrifices, and how to prepare those sacrifices. Thank God, we don’t have to sacrifice anymore an animal, but Christ became our sacrifice and died for punishment for all our sins. Today all He wants from us is to sacrifice ourselves daily.

3. The Moral & Spiritual Law

The moral and spiritual laws include the 10 Commandments, but also speak of moral laws that we are to keep. Some of these moral laws include:

a. Not to look on the nakedness of kinfolk.

b. Not to have sexual relations outside of marriage.

c. Not to kill infants and children.

d. To provide for the widows and orphans.

e. To pray those who work for you.

f. To respect your parents.

g. Honor older people and care for those who are blind and deaf.

The spiritual laws and moral laws are still in effect. We don’t go around killing and raping just because Christ will forgive us. We don’t willingly sin to get more grace. No, moral laws and the 10 Commandments are still in effect.

During the 2016 Presidential Campaign, one of the slogans that was said a lot, and is still used quite frequently is President Donald Trump’s slogan “Make America Great Again.” I like that slogan. I wished America could return to her roots and become that great world power once again. But, I’m afraid America…

“America will never be great again, until America is godly again!” – John Daniel Johnson

America’s Problem & Punishment

America’s problem is that we have forgotten the moral and spiritual laws in which our Country was founded. It is perfectly legal today to go to an abortion clinic and stop a beating heart. Teenager screaming at parents and parents not being parents is ramped. Homosexuality is considered an alternative lifestyle, when Bible states that it is a sinful lifestyle. People don’t know what they are anymore and call themselves transgender and transracial, and take these people and pay them to be on television and entertain us. Oh, America’s got a problem. It is a moral and spiritual one.

Because of this moral and spiritual problem, God’s got a punishment…

1. "I will even appoint terror over you..." (Lev. 26:16)

2. "Wasting disease and fever which shall consume the eyes and cause sorrow of heart." (Lev. 26:16)
