TOPIC: THE FAITHFULNESS OF GOD

TEXT: LAMENTATION 3:22-23

"It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed because his compassions fail not.

They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness"

We thank God for the year 2020. It has been an interesting year; filled with diverse surprises. It has been a different narrative to different people. To some, it was a shattered dream and unaccomplished expectation, while to others it has been a favorable year. With the locked down and the restriction of movement, it has allowed them to redirect their focus to God. Praise thy Lord.

No matter the circumstance you are going through in your life right now, God's steadfast love for you is inexhaustible. His mercies are renewed every morning. It is well with you. No cause for alarm as there is nothing actually to worry about. God's mercy will locate you in Jesus' name.

As a Christian, you are adopted by the Father who will never leave or forsake you.

The Scripture loudly testified to the faithfulness of God. Our text says: great is the faithfulness of God.

Psalms 36:5 also affirms this truth "Thy mercy, O LORD, is in the heavens; and thy faithfulness reacheth unto the clouds." God's faithfulness applies to every aspect of our being. He is faithful to His dealings with us. Let's quickly touch on one or two areas.

1.God Is Faithful To His Words And Promises.

Matthew 24:35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

The Lord Jesus is reaffirming that His words are His bond. Everything else might fail but His words are forever settled. It means that He will keep all His promises. It means that God will fulfill every prophecy He has given. After leading Israel for years, when Joshua was on the verge of his departure, he took stock of God's dealing with them. He concluded and recalled that

"And, behold, this day I am going the way of all the earth: and ye know in all your hearts and all your souls that not one thing hath failed of all the good things which the LORD your God spake concerning you,' all are come to pass unto you, and not one thing hath failed thereof"(Joshua 23:14)

Count on the promises of God, they are as good as accomplished! Because God is faithful.

2.God Is Faithful To Your Preservation

Lamentations 3:22 It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed because his compassions fail not.

We live in a society that is not free from the evil enterprise. But God is ever faithful to frustrate their evil plans and grant us safety even in the face of danger. Because of His faithfulness, we are not consumed. Paul appreciates this fact when he said in 2 Timothy 4:18 "And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen."

Brethren, the faithfulness of God will preserve you. He will deliver you from violent men and women. Evil will not befall you in Jesus' name.

God will uphold you in your walk with Him. You will not fall because," the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil." (2Thessalonians 3:3).

Some people often question the faithfulness of our faithful God. At some low point in life, some persons are tempted to doubt the faithfulness of God. From the evidence of Scripture, Abraham, Elijah, even Jeremiah have shown some trait of doubt in their walk with God. In the days of Peter, such doubt was also expressed. "And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation". (2Peter 3:4).

Maybe you have had your moment of doubt also. But that does not deny the fact that God is faithful.

I can testify with all certainty that God is faithful. I was a sinner. He promised to save me and today I am saved. I was sick almost at the point of death when the doctors gave up on me, He gave me health and cure and I am alive today writing to you. God is at work perfecting all that concerns me. What a faithful God we serve! To Him be all the glory forever and ever.

Our Response To God Faithfulness

We should reciprocate this lovely fatherly affection by being faithful to God in our little way. God testified of Moses as being a faithful servant:

Numbers 12:7 "My servant Moses is not so, who is faithful in all mine house."

Dare be a Moses!.

Other ways we can respond to God's faithfulness are: We should sing and testify about the faithfulness of God. Submit to God faithfulness and don't be a doubter. Rest on the faithfulness of God.
