The Gifts of the Holy Spirit – part IV

1 Cor 12:1 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be ignorant: 2 You know that you were Gentiles, carried away to these dumb idols, however you were led. 3 Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed, and no one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit. 4 There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5 There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. 6 And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. 7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: 8 for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, 10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. 11 But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.

The Power gifts

 The gifts of healings, the gift of faith, & the working of miracles.

 These are gifts in which the Holy Spirit performs supernatural exploits for man, without man’s strength or intelligence involved.

The Gifts of Healing

1 Cor 12:9 …to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit,

 The only plural gift

 How many gifts of healing?

 One for every area of sickness, 39 stripes, 39 different areas of sickness, 39 healings

 Jesus commanded us to be vessels of His healing virtue.

Mark 16:17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover."

 Is this gift limited?

 Only by man’s faith or heart.

 Phil 2:25-26 The Apostle Paul could not heal everyone, he had to leave behind members of his evangelistic party.

Luke 4:38-39 Simon Peter had to call on Jesus to heal his mother-in-law.

Acts 8:7-8 The sick were brought to Phillip and many were healed.

Acts 5:16 All that were brought to the Apostles were healed.

How to be healed

 Pray for yourself (the best way)

 Member of your family to lay hands on you

 Send for the elders of the church James 5:14 "Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord."

 Healing is part of God’s divine nature. (Exo 15:26)

The Gift of Faith

1 Cor 12:9 to another faith by the same Spirit,…

Many kinds of faith

 Sometimes people confuse the Gift of Faith for faith in general.

 Every believer has a measure of faith (Rom 12:3)

 There is saving faith

 The thief on the cross.
