Summary: There is a small thread that holds the family and society together, it is the love of a Mother.

THE THREAD OF LIFE -- A MOTHER’S LOVE!

By Wade Martin Hughes, Sr. Kyfingers@aol.com

Romans 13:7 Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is

due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.

I. THE GOLD THREAD OF A MOTHER’S LOVE TAKES MANY FORMS.

IT MAY BE EVEN BASKET WEAVING.

A. There was a precious lady that her greatest gift to God was her children.

B. THERE WAS A MAN NAMED AMRAM, AND HE MARRIED A GIRL FROM THE TRIBE

OF LEVI.

C. JOCHEBED WAS MARRIED AND FAITHFUL TO AMRAM.

D. SHE LIVED IN A HARD AND EVIL DAY.

JOCHEBED HAD TWO OLDER CHILDREN:

MIRIAM AND AARON.

E. THE LAW WAS PASSED --- KILL THE SONS.

F. SHE LATER HAD A SON NAMED MOSES.

G. SHE DID WHAT SHE COULD: SHE MADE A BASKET OF LOVE AND HOPE!

Exodus 2:3 And when she could not longer hide him, she took for him an ark of bulrushes, and daubed it with slime and with pitch, and put the child therein;

and she laid it in the flags by the river’s brink.

H. JOCHEBED’S GREAT GIFT TO GOD WERE HER FAITHFUL CHILDREN.

Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

II. THE HAND THAT ROCKS THE CRADLE RULES THE WORLD!

A. A Mother has many duties:

To love

To teach

To nurture

To train

B. A MOM’S WORK IS FROM SON UP TO SON DOWN?

Proverbs 31:28 Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.

Ephes. 6:1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.

2 Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;)

3 That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.

Romans 13:7 Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.

IN MY HEART!

IV. THE GOLDEN THREAD OF A MOTHER’S LOVE.

A. Last week our youngest son was injured. He is a policeman and was in a battle with a Cocaine dealer. He and a Kentucky State Policeman were injured. The police dog attacked the State Police man, and my son hurt his knee going over an eight feet high fence.

B. So I told my wife I would mow our sons 2 acres.

I loaded up my Gravely on the trailer and drove over to our son’s house.

As I was unloading my mower a little bird started singing and running and acting very strange.

C. The little female bird was a killdeer.

Killdeers are a lap winged bird that builds their nest on the ground.

I watched and watched this strange acting bird, do the broken wing dance and it slowly led me away from the nest.

D. This Momma bird was willing to give it’s life for the eggs.

After a several minute search, I found four beautiful colored eggs hidden laying upon the rocks.

E. I sat my bottle of Gator-aide down near the nest to remind me where the nest was hidden.

I carefully mowed around those four eggs, and each time I talked to the Momma bird and assured her I would not bother her, nor would I bother

her precious little eggs.

F. This Momma bird sat hour after endless hours on her little nest.

Her body temperature goes up.

She sweats great drops of moisture over her little new hope of life.

She eats very little and only leaves her nest for a few minutes a day.

G. All the world seems to go by as she gives herself unselfishly for the new generation.

H. This Momma bird was willing to do battle with the three blades of a 60 inch deck to defend her four little eggs.

WHY?

WHAT MAKES THIS LITTLE BIRD SO WILLING TO DIE TO PROTECT

THOSE FOUR LITTLE EGGS?

V. YEARS AGO I WAS HONORED TO BE THE SPEAKER AT A GOLD STAR

MOTHERS DINNER.

A. I saw a young soldier return from Viet Nam in a sealed casket.

I saw a Mother cry and grieve, this young man was her hope.

B. To be a Gold Star Mother --- you had to have lost a child in combat for this great nation.

I watched these precious women still grieve for their hero son or daughter that marched away to war and never returned.

C. I heard one Mother say, she never went to her son’s wedding, she never had a grandchild, that she had given the best thing that she ever had for
