Summary: One day Jesus was eating with his disciples, and he asked this question to Peter, he said; “Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?”

Peter responded and said; “Yes, Lord,” he said, “you know that I love you” (John 21:15). The word love which Jesus included in his question is translated from the Greek Word Agape and it means self giving love, the love which one sacrifices himself in place of another. This love means that you put the other person ahead of yourself, you choose to suffer what the other person should suffer and give up what you should enjoy so that the other person can enjoy it.

When Jesus came to die for the sins of the world, he took our place so that we could take his place. Him dying was the greatest love ever revealed to mankind, God the Father manifested his love in the in that, "he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life" (John 3:16). The Angels watched in amazement, how could this great God falls so in-love with this human creature. Angels were not shown the same mercy, when they walked in disobedience they were judged and set aside for hell fire. Both Angels and Human beings were his creatures, but his love (Agape) was towards human beings.

Them Angels marveled at this love and said; “What is mankind that you are mindful of them, a son of man that you care for him? You made them a little lower than the angels; you crowned them with glory and honor and put everything under their feet” (Hebrews 2:7-8). Of course he loves his Angels, but not with the same amount of love that he loves me and you. There are different measurements of love, and what he showed towards us is the highest of all measurements. He loves us with Agape, this is why he gave up Jesus to save us. If you being a man gave up your one son to save another it means you love them with the equal amount of love, doesn't it. God the Father does not love Jesus more he loves me and you, he loves us with the equal amount of Agape. Blessed be God.
