Summary: No matter what the world says, Jesus is the only way.

The Kings Highway

John 14:6

The Mush god has been known to appear to millionaires on golf courses. He appears to politicians at ribbon-cutting ceremonies and to clergymen speaking the invocation on national TV at either Democratic or Republican conventions. The Mush god has no theology to speak of, being a Cream of Wheat divinity. The Mush God has no particular credo, no tenets of faith, nothing that would make it difficult for believer and nonbeliever alike to lower one’s head when the temporary chairman tells us that Reverend, Rabbi, Father, or Mufti, or So-and-So will lead us in an innocuous, harmless prayer, for this god of public occasions is not a jealous god. You can even invoke him to start a hooker’s convention and he/she or it won’t be offended. God of the Rotary, God of the Optimists, Protector of the Buddy System, The Mush God is Lord of the secular ritual, of the necessary but hypocritical forms and formalities that hush the divisive and derisive. The Mush God is a serviceable god whose laws are chiseled not on tablets but written on sand, open to amendment, qualification and erasure. This is a god that will compromise with you, make allowances and declare all wars holy, all peaces hallowed.

1. Jesus is the way

A. Matthew 3:3 says, “this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the

wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight. Jesus is the One Isaiah spoke of.

B. 2Thessalonians 2:10 speaks of the many people worldwide suffering under deception today. Paul prayed as we

should that God would use us to open up their understanding.

C. God’s Word is the only way by which we can really know God. Trying to come to Him by any other way is an

exercise in futility.

2. Jesus is the truth

A. John 1:14 says, “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of

the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”

B. the world has its head buried in the sand and is afraid to trust in Christ to save them. They look to false religions and

philosophy for understanding and find nothing but empty ritual.

C. Ephesians 1:13 says, Jesus, “In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your

salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise.”

3. Jesus is the life

A. Romans 5:12-16 says, “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death

passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when

there is no law. Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the

similitude of Adam’s transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come. But not as the offence, so also is the

free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which

is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many. And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the

judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences”

B. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him

should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

C. Acts 4:12 says, “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among

men, whereby we must be saved.”

No man, woman, or child comes to God by any way other than Jesus Christ, the Son Of God. Our secular society wants to water down the truth and says Christians are intolerant and dogmatic. They say we’re hypocrites and liars. How do you respond? Are you walking as Jesus walked? Are you walking the walk of faith? The world trusts money, property, and prestige. Who are you trusting in today?
