"The Knock"

“The Knock” Luke 2: 1-7

Dr. Bill Wilson was preaching a sermon explaining how the inn keeper just simply had no room for Jesus in the inn; as a result the Savior had to be born in meager circumstances in a manger for cattle. Explaining how God is calmly knocking on our hearts door to make room for the babe born in Bethlehem (The city of bread).As he was presenting the message, he gently, and meekly says, “and Joseph knocked on the Inn Keepers door, "KNOCK" KNOCK". He folds his hands tightly making a fist and hits the pulpit very gently, but firm. A man in the congregation was asleep and awakes when he hears the knock and says, "I'LL get it".

Today's story Joseph knocks on the Inn keepers Door the Inn keeper says, "There is no room in the Inn." We really don't know if Joseph really knocked on the door, but we do know in our English language the word “knock” is a metaphor for God calling one.

1. When we hear the Knock lets us make room for Jesus

• by attending church services

• by Reading the Bible

• by Thanking God for sending Jesus Christ to redeem us.

2. When you hear the Knock there is an announcement that God want you to hear

• The announcement the Angels say, "10. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. "11Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is ChristA the Lord.

• When you hear the Knock you must decide to make the announcement to others, remember “Born this day in the city of David a savior, go tell it on the mountain over the hills and everywhere.”

3. When you hear the Knock be inviting and welcoming.

• Rev 3 20Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.

• For Gods sake don't be so excited you forget to invite Christ in Acts 12 : 13Peter knocked at the outer entrance, and a servant girl named Rhoda came to answer the door. 14When she recognized Peter's voice, she was so overjoyed she ran back without opening it and exclaimed, "Peter is at the door!"

4. Remember when you hear the Knock be like the man who jumped up in the congregation and said, “I'll get it”.

• Isaiah said, "I'll get it” Isaiah said, "Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?" And I said, "Here am I. Send me!"

-Isaiah 6: 8

• Abraham said, "I'll get it” Abram said, "I will Leave my country, my people and my father's household and go to the land you will show me.." 4So Abram left, as the LORD had told him; as a result God made him a great nation and made his name great. God said, "3I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you".

• Joshua said, "I'll get it” Choose you this day whom you will serve as for me and my house we will serve the Lord.

• Samuel said, I'll get it" 1 Samuel 3:10The LORD called three times, "Samuel! Samuel!" Then Samuel said, "Speak, Lord for your servant is listening."

• Amos said, I'll get it" Amos 7: 15 Amos the Burden bearer despite his lack of education, all he ever knew was a sheepherder, yet he said I'll get it. The LORD took me from tending the flock and said to me, `Go, prophesy to my people Israel.' 16Now then, hear the word of the LORD.

• The Disciples said, "I'll get it” Peter and Andrew said I'll get it. Jesus said,

19"Come, follow me, and I will make you fishers of men." 20At once they left their nets and followed him.

Nicole said Sunday mourn I'll get it” when she decided to play the piano

Jesus said, "I'll get it" in the garden of Gethsemane let this cup pass never the less

not my will but thine will be done.

Is our Lord knocking today, Will you get it?
