1. The Reality Of David's Confession The LORD is my shepherd

(a) An Acknowledgement Of His Ignorance The Need Of The Shepherd John 6:68 Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.

(b) An Acknowledgement Of His Waywardness The Nature Of The Shepherd Luke 19:10 For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

(c) An Acknowledgement Of His Helplessness The Notability Of The Shepherd

Jonah 2:9 But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that that I have vowed. Salvation is of the LORD. Salvation This word is used of the deliverance of the Israelites from the Egyptians Exodus 14:13 And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever.

and of deliverance generally from evil or danger. In the New Testament it is specially used with reference to the great deliverance from the guilt and the pollution of sin wrought out by Jesus Christ, Hebrews 2:3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;

Isaiah 12:2 Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation.

Zephaniah 3:17 The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.

(d) An Acknowledgement Of His Dependence The Nearness Of The Shepherd

The LORD is my Shepherd He Guides, Guards, Governs,& Guarantees Eternal Life

2. The Redemption In David's Confession The LORD is my shepherd

(a) We Are Purchased by His Blood 1 Peter 1:18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

(b) We Are Led by His Spirit Romans 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

(c) We Are Fed by His Word Psalms 119:11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

(d) We Are Kept by His Power 1 Peter 1:5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

3. The Resources In David's Confession I shall not want.

(a) His Riches are Unsearchable Psalms 50:10 For every beast of the forest is mine, and the cattle upon a thousand hills.

(b) His Power Is Almighty Revelation 19:6 And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.

(c) His Faithfulnss Is Unfailing Psalms 36:5 Thy mercy, O LORD, is in the heavens; and thy faithfulness reacheth unto the clouds.

1 Corinthians 1:9 God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.

(d) His Love Is Unchanging Jeremiah 31:3 The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.

(e) His Presence Is Surrounding The Lord Is : -

Before His People John 10 v 4 And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.

Behind His People Psalm 139 v 5 Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me.

Above His People Psalm 91 v 1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

Beneath His People Isa 40 v 11, He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young.

Isa 46 v 4 And even to your old age I am he; and even to hoar hairs will I carry you: I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you.

Around His People Psalm 125 v 2, As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the LORD is round about his people from henceforth even for ever.
