The Mind of Christ (Part 2) 11/6/05 –pm
INTRO
Our last sermon on Sunday night focused on the first 5 verses of chapter 2, specifically on the mindset of Jesus Christ. Tonight, we are going to further look into this chapter, re-pointing out some things and looking into a few new thoughts to enhance our minds and enable our minds to be more like Christ.
TEXT
I. All Christians are called to be a servant
a. Some are called to Preach, to teach, to minister, to do whatever God wants them to do.
b. A true servant, or God’s servant, is shown be their willingness to do and to go wherever God leads.
i. OLD HYMN – Wherever He leads I’ll go,
ii. SHOULD BE – Whatever He says, I’ll do!
II. All Christians are called to be obedient to God’s direction in our lives.
a. Jesus learned through His obedience to God on the cross.
ii. Hebrews 5:8
b. We learn lessons in life by being obedient to God’s word and the Holy Spirit leading in our lives.
III. All Christians are called to worship Jesus Christ as He is – King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
b. Worship
i. Not an action, but a lifestyle
ii. Everything we do – should be done in a way to bring praise to our Father in Heaven.
Apply these 3 thoughts from God’s word to our lives and ask ourselves these questions. .
*Are we being the servant God has called us to be?
*Are we being obedient to God’s direction or are we doing things our way?
*Are we practicing a lifestyle of worship?
