THE PRECIOUS BLOOD OF CHRIST

“You know that you were not redeemed with perishable things like silver and gold….But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless..” I Peter 1:18-19 NASB.

The Apostle selects a wonderful word to picture the blood of Christ. Webster defines precious as: "of exceedingly high value or worth". The Christian would define precious as it is applied to the blood of Christ as: "of inestimable value or worth"!

I THE BLOOD OF CHRIST IS PRECIOUS BECAUSE OF ITS REDEMPTIVE POWER:

Christians are a blood-bought people! “Thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by Thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation.” Revelation 5:9

“We have redemption through His blood.” Colossians 1:14

II THE BLOOD OF CHRIST IS PRECIOUS BECAUSE OF ITS EMANCIPATING POWER:

Christ is our great Emancipator!

“Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.” Galatians 5:1

“There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and death.” Romans 8:1-2 NASB

III THE BLOOD OF CHRIST IS PRECIOUS BECAUSE OF ITS OVERCOMING POWER:

“And they overcame him (Satan) by the blood of the Lamb.” Revelation 12:11

“O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The strength of death is sin: and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” I Corinthians 15:55-57

IV THE BLOOD OF CHRIST IS PRECIOUS BECAUSE OF ITS SOUL-CLEANSING POWER:

“…though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.” Is. 1:18

“Being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be propitiation through faith in His blood….” Romans 3:24-25

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” I John 1:9
