Genesis 22:5 hebrew - (shachah) prostrate, depress
Matthew 2:2 greek - (pros-ku-ne-o) prostrate; adore; reverence; homage
A. The DEFINITION of Worship. 1 Chronicles 16:29; Psalm 108:3-5; 95:1-2; 100:4
Worship: Whatever holds your mind’s ATTENTION and your heart’s AFFECTION.
It is our positive RESPONSE to God’s REVELATION. Genesis 17:1-3
B. The DESIGN of Worship. Genesis 4:1-7; John 4:19-24; Hebrews 11:4, 6
Parameters: In SPIRIT and in TRUTH. (John 4:24)
God has designed Worship as the PRIMARY PURPOSE of the church. (Exodus 20:1-17; Deuteronomy 5:6-21; Matthew 22:37-40)
Enter into WORSHIP and depart unto SERVICE. (necessary order) Matthew 28:17-20
C. The DESIRE to Worship. Exodus 32
Everyone is created to be a worshipper. Perverted or Pagan worship results from perverting the Scriptures.
The order of Degeneration!
a. Worship of SOVEREIGN GOD. right adoration
b. Worship of SELF. atheist
c. Worship of SECRET KNOWLEDGE. agnostic/gnostic
d. Worship of STONES. idolator/adulterer
e. Worship of UNSEEN SPIRITS. animist
