ISAIAH 53:5-6

But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are

healed.

We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.

2 CORINTHIANS 5:21

God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

1 PETER 3:18

For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit,

2. ATONEMENT - COMPENSATION

1 JOHN 2:2

He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.

HEBREWS 10:8-10

First he said, "Sacrifices and offerings, burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not desire, nor were you pleased with them" (although the law required them to be made).

Then he said, "Here I am, I have come to do your will." He sets aside the first to establish the second.

And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

HEBREWS 2:17

For this reason he had to be made like his brothers in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people.

3. PROPITIATION

*******************

Through the cross ,Christ has appeased the wrath of God against sin by taking it upon Himself as a propitiation.

ROMANS 5:9

Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him!

4. RECONCILIATION

********************

Through the cross , Christ has reconciled us to God and restored our relationship with Him.

ROMANS 5:10-11

For if, when we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!

Not only is this so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.

COLOSSIANS 1:21-22

Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior.

But now he has reconciled you by Christs physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation

2 CORINTHIANS 5: 18-20

All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation:

that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men's sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.

We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ's behalf: Be reconciled to God.

5.REDEMPTION

*****************

Through the cross , Christ has paid the ransom for us and redeemed us from the devil.

SCRIPTURE REFERENCES

*************************

HEBREWS 9:12

He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by his own blood, having obtained eternal redemption.

MATTHEW 20:28

just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."

6. JUSTIFICATION

********************

Through the cross , Christ has justified us and has not only forgiven our sins but has also made us righteous in the sight of God

SCRIPTURE REFERENCES

*************************

ROMANS 5:1-2

Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,

through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.

TITUS : 3:4-7

But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared,

he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit,

whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior,

so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.
