The Revelation of Jesus Christ

Rev. 1:1-20

Overview:

• John is exiled to the isles of Patmos about 40 miles southwest of the coast of Ephesus

• He is the only Apostle that does not dies a martyr’s death

• He is caught up in the Spirit on what he calls the Lord’s day

Revelation: Unveiling

Vs.1 To shew unto His servant things which must shortly come to pass…

Mention: Daniel 12:4 seal the writings

The Simple Outline:

Chapter 1: Past

Vs.18 I am He that liveth, and was dead; and behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

Chapter 2-3: Present

This is the letters to the seven churches. We live in what is called the church age.

Chapter 4-22: Future

Mention: Rev. 4:1 I will shew thee things which must be hereafter.

Mention: Rev. Vs.1 Signified = Signs and symbols

• Two: Witness Chap. 11

• Four: earth

• Six: the number of man

• Seven: (perfection) Church, Spirits, golden candlesticks, stars, seals, vials, trumpets, horns, eyes, angels, thunders, heads, kings, plagues and crowns

Seven times we find the name: Jesus Christ. 5 times in this first chapter!

Seven Beatitudes: Rev. 1:3, 14:13, 16:15, 19:9, 20:6, 22:7, and 22:14

• Ten: Fullness

• Twelve: God’s governmental number

• Living Creatures, beasts, dragon, woman in purple and others

Vs.1 Revelation of Jesus Christ, Who bare record of God, and the testimony of Jesus Christ

1. The Analogy of the Bible

The entire Bible is a revelation of Jesus Christ as the example of the first five books demonstrates here:

• Genesis; The Creator of the all things

• Exodus; The Deliverer of His People

• Leviticus; Our Great High Priest

• Numbers; My Leader in the Wilderness

• Deuteronomy; Jesus our Redeeming Prophet

2. The Ancient of Days

Vs.8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end

Isaiah 46:10 He has declared the end from the beginning

• He is God See: Hebrews 1:8
