Summary: The amazing grace of God is one of the simplest yet hardest to grasp concepts of the Christian faith.

The Simplicity of the Gospel

I had some notes taken from someone else’s message (a long time ago?) but have lost the reference. This message uses the fruit of those notes. Thanks to the co-author. I believe God is the true Author of every message to His people.

(the Philippian jailer) And leading them outside, he said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? 31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved, …. (Acts 16:30, 31 (MKJV)

The greatest stumbling block to those who desire a relationship with God comes from the fact that the gospel is so SIMPLE.

We tend to want to “DO” something to earn salvation.

God says it is a GIFT, because Jesus Christ paid the PRICE on the cross.

He bought eternal life for EVERY man. (Jn. 3:16)

Bro Joe- “Not afraid of the bomb with my name on it, but whosoever”!

However, the gift must be received by FAITH.

SALVATION’S SIMPLICITY (Examples)

1- Salvation is As Simple As COMING When You Are Called.

Come to Me all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Mt. 11:28 (MKJV)

2- Salvation is As Simple As DRINKING Water.

but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst, but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. Jn. 4:14 (MKJV)

And in the last day of the great feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. 38 He who believes on Me, as the Scripture has said, “Out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.” Jn. 7:37- 38 (MKJV)

3- Salvation is As Simple As EATING Bread.

And Jesus said to them, I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes on Me shall never thirst … 51 I am the Living Bread which came down from Heaven. If anyone eats of this Bread, he shall live forever. And truly the bread that I will give is My flesh, which I will give for the life of the world. Jn. 6:35, 51 (MKJV)

4- Salvation is As Simple As Entering A DOOR.

I am the door. If anyone enters in by Me, he shall be saved and shall go in and out and find pasture. 10 The thief does not come except to steal and to kill and to destroy. I have come so that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. Jn. 10:9-10 (MKJV)

5- Salvation is As Simple As Receiving A GIFT.

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Rom. 6:23 (MKJV)

6- Salvation is As Simple As Calling For HELP.

For everyone, “whoever shall call on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Rom. 10:13 (MKJV)

7- Salvation is As Simple As The Trust Of A CHILD.

And Jesus called a little child to Him and set him in their midst, 3 and said, Truly I say to you, Unless you are converted and become as little children, you shall not enter into the kingdom of Heaven. Mt. 18:2- 3 (MKJV)

8- Salvation is As Simple As Believing In JESUS CHRIST.

Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes on Me has everlasting life. Jn. 6:47 (MKJV)

Jesus said to her, I am the Resurrection and the Life! He who believes in Me, though he die, yet he shall live. 26 And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this? Jn. 11:25- 26 (MKJV)

The scripture says.

So then FAITH cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Rom. 10:17 (KJV)

Faith is TRUSTING what the word of God says.

It all comes down to the question in John 11:26, “Do you BELIEVE this?”

Your response will determine your eternal destiny; either heaven or hell. Don’t stumble over the simplicity of the Gospel!

Wow! The simplicity of the gospel. I love the examples you used to illustrate this simplicity. As simple as coming, drinking water, eating bread, entering a door, receiving a gift, calling for help and the trust of a child. This is insight. This is going to definitely help me in my walk with the Lord and the teaching of his Word. Thank you so much sir.
