Summary: In an hour when there is so much confusion, uncertainty and chaos, even Christians are doing the unthinkable.

THE UNTHINKABLE

Rom 2:2

2 But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth against them which commit such things.

I could have titled this sermon, "The Unbelievable" but I believe that there is no depth of sin that man today is not willing to go.

It’s unthinkable:

That a man would go into a class room and kill 5 or 6 young innocent girls and then take his own life.

That women in our world would murder thier unborn children through abortion becaue they would get in the way of thier life style.

That men would inter matrimony with men (you noticed that I didn’t say holy matrimont)and women do the same.

I dosen’t matter how you look at homosexuality, it is an abomination to God.

That our government, that’s so concerned about morality in our nation would take the very mastic that holds everything together, out our schools and government institutions. And that is prayer.

That a man or woman could leave thier spouse and children because of passions and desires that are out of control.

Those passions and desires can never satisfied or gratified outside of marriage.

Some my say, "I’m satisfied with it." Don’t kid yourself, you will never get over the guilt factor.

But the most unthinkable is;

That anyone would want to kill God’s son.

(Even Pilot thought it unthinkable. Three times in Luke he said that he found no fault in Jesus. Herod couldn’t find fault.)

That anyone could refuse such love.

John 1:11

11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

(They hated Him)

There are many people who have been blessed by God with finances, healings, and the list could go on, that have since refused His love and now push Him away. UNTHINKABLE.

People who witnessed His miracles pushed Him away.

Not only those who have been recipients, but who have also witnessed undeniable miracles in the lives of others now push Him away. UNTHINKABLE

Mark 5:16-17

16 Those who had seen it told the people what had happened to the demon-possessed man — and told about the pigs as well. 17 Then the people began to plead with Jesus to leave their region.

NIV

That anyone would refuse God’s greatest gift to mankind.

(The young ruler did.)

People do even today. The price is too great to pay. God requires too much.

Deut 10:12

12 And now, Israel, what doth the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul,

That anyone could not believe God for divine help, provision, healing, and protection after believing for salvation.

We witness His faithfulness in our lives every day and can’t believe Him for specific needs.

Many Christians have more confidence in every worldly concern than they do in Jesus.

You wouldn’t put the safe keeping of your children and other family members or your finances or health care in the hands of an aquaintance, would you? Yes, we do it all the time.

We trust these people who have limited power and resourses and we can’t trust Jesus who has no limitations and all power.

If you know Jesus, you can trust Jesus.

It takes fellowshipping with Him through the Word and prayer to know Him.

And therein is where our problen lies. Christ is only an aquaintance rather than a relationship.

Eph 3:20

able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think ,

That anyone could experience salvation, God’s blessings, and then turn and go back into the sinful life.

Demas did. Judas did, and the church world is filled with people who have.

That anyone would receive the gift of life through Christ’s suffering and death and then refuse help others to receive the same.

Millions of Christians refuse to do so. It’s obvious.

Our world would not be in the shape it is in today if Christians had a passion for Jesus and the lost.

Mark 5:19

but (Jesus) saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee.

How about you, this morning? Are you doing the unthinkable, before a great cloud of witnesses, refusing to accept Christ, or obey Him concerning His will for your life?

Would you do the unthinkable and not be ready for the coming of the Lord?

Don’t do the unthinkable, do the greatest thing that you have ever done. Obey Him.

Lets pray
