Summary: This virtuous woman mentioned in Proverbs 31 is God’s plan for every wife or mother. See her value, vocation, and her vitality.

Proverbs 31:10 Asks a very important question for every man. "Who can find a virtuous woman?"

Virtuous means: One who is chaste, moral, and pure.

Ruth 3:11 Boaz said unto Ruth the city of my people know thou art a virtuous woman.

Who can find a virtuous woman?

1. Her Value

Prov. 31:10 Her price is far above rubies

You can not put a price tag on a godly woman!

1 Peter 3:4 The Bible says such a woman is the sight of God of great price.

Prov. 31:28 Such a woman is praised by her children and her husband.

2. Her Vocation (her occupation)

a) Her obligation to her husband

Prov. 31:11 She is trustworthy

Vs.12 She is supportive "She does him good and not evil all the days of her life"

Prov. 18:22 Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing. Not a bad thing!

See: 1 Peter 3:1-5 Several things is mentioned her concerning a godly woman.

1. She submits herself willing unto her husband Vs.1

Note: This husband mentioned here is not one who obeys the word of God. This leads me to believe that he is not a Christian man.

See: 1 Peter 3:1 again

2. She wins him by her conversation (manner of living)and not the words of her mouth.

She doesn’t beat him up with the word of God, but simply lives a life before him that glorifies the Lord.

Now see: 1 Peter 3:3-5

3. The outward appearance is not her first priority.

Verse.4 here says it is the hidden man of the heart that is of great price in the sight of God.

The fact of the matter beauty will only land him, but a woman that adorns herself with the heart will keep her man.

Notice: 1 Peter 3:5 The holy women of old time adorned themselves not with goodly apparel, but by being in subjection unto their own husbands:

Please note: Subjection is not to be looked down upon or makes one inferior. Many women that work are sumbissive to their boss (perhaps a man), but may find it a problem to be in subjection to the man God says she ought to be. Men have not helped this matter at all by projecting themselves as some dictator.

See: 1 Cor. 11:3 The illustration here teaches us something about this. It simply says that the head of the woman is the man, and the head of Christ is God.

Question: Is not Christ and God equal? Yes! So is the woman and man! As there is a divine order in the Trinity there is also one in the family.

Prov. 31:23 This virtuous woman is very influential to her husband. She is his success.

See: Pro. 12:4 She is either his crown, or rotteness to his bones. Only a wife can crown her husband, and he needs that or he will seek it elsewhere to no avail.

Bible History tells us: Eve infuenced Adam, Sarah did so to Abraham, Esther did unto the king of Persia, Delilah influenced Samson, and Jezebel, king Ahab.

It is true that behind every successful man is a good woman. The good should be properly stated godly!

b) Her obligation to her children

Psalms 113:9 She is a joyful mother of children

c) Her obligation to her home

Notice Psalms 113:9 again "He made her to keep House" Who did? Not man, but God did!

1 Tim. 5:13-14 She guides the house. This simply means she control the flow everything that happens at home. Sure the man is the head, but she is the neck that turns the head.

See: Proverbs 31 again

Vs.14, 16 There is shopping (she finds the best deals if it means going across town)

Vs.15 There is cooking

Vs.19 There is sewing

Vs.21 She is aware of each member of the household needs. She knows whether or not little Johnny coat is too small, or his shoes is worn out. Her husband doesn’t follow these things.

Vs.27 says She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. She is said her not a lazy woman.

d) She even has the ability to see need

Vs.20 She stretcheth out her hand to the poor, and the needy.

Question: How can a woman do the many things here. What is her secret? Answer below

3. Her Vitality (power to endure)

See: Prov. 31:29-30 "But the woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised."

1 Peter 3:5 Tells the holy women of old time "Trusted in God"

Hebrews 11:11 Sarah judged God faithful in His promises.

It’s not because she fear some man, but she has committed her unto God and fear Him.

Titus 2:5 Simply says it is the desire not to blasphemed the Word of God.

Who can find a virtuous? Our country would be in much better shape if the most influencial person I think godly women would understand their, Value, Vocation, and Vitality.
