Summary: What God has for us to work with.

THERE IS POWER IN PENTECOST

Results of Pentecost.

Brings about a change in the church also the secular world.

32 years after Pentecost almost every person has heard of CHRIST.

The same power that changed Peter from a rred to a rock can change us today.

Three things they had we need today 1. power of the Holy Spirit. 2.Determination

3.Willingness to work together.

Acts 17: 5 But the Jews which believed not, moved with envy, took unto them certain lewd fellows of the baser sort, and gathered a company, and set all the city on an uproar, and assaulted the house of Jason, and sought to bring them out to the people.

6 And when they found them not, they drew Jason and certain brethren unto the rulers of the city, crying, These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also;

1. The changing power.

Personalities change.

2nd Corinthians 5: 17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;

Attitudes change. Actions change. Ambitions change.

Ezekiel 36: 26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.

If your heart is changed All others will follow.

Purpose for the change. We might have a dedicated to Gods work.

Acts 5: 42 And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.

House to house they went.

2. Practices Change.

Acts 8: 1 And Saul was consenting unto his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judaea and Samaria, except the apostles.

2 And devout men carried Stephen to his burial, and made great lamentation over him.

3 As for Saul, he made havock of the church, entering into every house, and haling men and women committed them to prison.

Acts 9: 19 And when he had received meat, he was strengthened. Then was Saul certain days with the disciples which were at Damascus.

20 And straightway he preached Christ in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God.

3. Power of Compassion.

Acts 20: 31 Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears.

He not only had love. He acts.

Compassion that grows.

Paul watched over the New Christians for 3 yrs.

Compassion that gives. Acts 21: 13 Then Paul answered, What mean ye to weep and to break mine heart? for I am ready not to be bound only, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.

Compassion that goes.

Acts 5:28 See verse in context Saying, Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man's blood upon us.

4. They had converting power.

Acts 2: 40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.

41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.

This means change. A life from sin. Acts15; 3000 were saved.

From Satans power. From life of slavery. Not under the law But Grace.

1st John 4: 4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

5. No stopping power.

Acts 2: 41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.

42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.

Faithful to the preaching the people listen.

They Preached.

Salvation Acts 1: 8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

The power of God will be with you.

Surrender Acts 26: 18 To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.
