Things That Limit God
From the desk of Pastor Blankenship
TEXT: 2 PETER 1:3-4
3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
Before you right me off today, I want to preface this message with this statement; God is all powerful and can do anything! He holds all power in His hand. No one compares to my God! No mountain too high are valley too low. No sickness to sick, or heart to hard, no debt to deep, and no marriage to rocky for my God!
In spite of what I just said there are some things that limit God. Without trying to sound as if I am contradicted myself, let me explain:
Our text shows us the first thing that limits God.
A. His Nature (is LIMITED BY THE FACT THAT HE IS one that cannot)
Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD
thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.
2. MAKE MISTAKES
Ro 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
Thus saith the LORD that made thee, and formed thee from the womb, which will help thee;
Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him.
Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.
1. LIE (God cannot Lie)
In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began
Jas 5:14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: 15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
b. The Church
And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
c. The Holy Ghost
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. 39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.
But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
2 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
