Summary: There are only three kind of people in this world.

THREE KINDS OF PEOPLE IN THE WORLD

September 29, 2002

LUKE 10:25 37

25 And a lawyer stood up and put Him to the test, saying, "Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?"

26 And He said to him, "What is written in the Law? How does it read to you?"

27 And he answered, "YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND; AND YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF."

28 And He said to him, "You have answered correctly; DO THIS AND YOU WILL LIVE."

29 But wishing to justify himself, he said to Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?"

30 Jesus replied and said, "A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among robbers, and they stripped him and beat him, and went away leaving him half dead.

31 "And by chance a priest was going down on that road, and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.

32 "Likewise a Levite also, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side.

33 "But a Samaritan, who was on a journey, came upon him; and when he saw him, he felt compassion,

34 and came to him and bandaged up his wounds, pouring oil and wine on them; and he put him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn and took care of him.

35 "On the next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper and said, "Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I return I will repay you.’

36 "Which of these three do you think proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell into the robbers’ hands?"

37 And he said, "The one who showed mercy toward him." Then Jesus said to him, "Go and do the same.

The first kind says. It is yours and I want it and I will take it, no matter what I have to do to get it.

The next kind, say what is mine and I’m going to keep it. Even though both were religious men neither would help because they did not want to get involved.

The third says, what is mine is your and I will share it. Tell how Jews hate the Samarians. Yet this man that the Jews so disliked took of his time and money, about two days wages, to help this person that more than likely would not have helped him. This man must have been known by the innkeeper, because he would let him pay on his return.

Now as with many of Jesus’ stories there are more than one way to take it. The first one we just look at was the worldly and the second is the spiritual and we’ll look at that one now.

The first is a non Christian he wants nothing to do with God or His people and he will do all he can to tear them apart, even if it means killing them.

The second ones were the false Christians, those that will be Christian as long as it does not inconvenience them. Because, inconvenience is the biggest reason for failing to be Christian, I have my own thing I want to do and I’m not going to let God get in the way.

The third is the true Christian what ever his neighbor needed he was willing to do and he saw all people as his neighbor. We as Christians should want to share with everyone what we have, no only our physical goods, but more important of spiritual goods.

PLAN OF SALVATION

ROMANS 10: 17

17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.

HEBREWS 11:6

6 And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.

ACTS 2:38

38 Peter said to them, "Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

ROMANS 10:9 10

9 that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;

10 for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.

MARK 16:16

16 "He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned.

MATTHEW 7:21

21 "Not everyone who says to Me, "Lord, Lord,’will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter.
