ELOHIM – Strong One (Genesis 1:1)

EL ELYON – Most High (Genesis 14:22)

EL SHADDAI – Almighty One (Genesis 17:1)

ADONAI – Lord / Master (Joshua 5:14)

JEHOVAH SHALOM – The Lord is Peace (Judges 6:24)

JEHOVAH TSIDKENU – The Lord is our Righteousness (Jer. 23:6)

TO KNOW – yada – used 947 times in OT. It means to find out about and discern, to know by experience, to be intimately aquainted with.

ENOCH was a man who knew God. Genesis 5:22,24 “And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters: 23 And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years: 24 And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.”

NOAH was a man who knew God. Genesis 6:8-9 “8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD. 9 These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.”

USE AN ILLUSTRATION OF GETTING TO KNOW A NEW PERSON IN YOUR LIFE.

WE NEED TO TRUST IN HIM – v. 10

The experience of His faithfulness to His people through the ages is a just ground for having confidence in Him. It is the lot of God’s people to be oppressed in this world and to have troubling times appointed to them. We must follow the exhortation of Matthew 6:33 when Christ tells us, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness…”

Note that Jesus Christ would not put his trust in men: “But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men…for he knew what was in man.” John 2:24-25.

We have the promise of God that “I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee…” Hebrews 13:5

ILLUSTRATION - HAVE A CHAIR AS A PROP. TRY TO DECIDE IF IT WILL SUPPORT YOUR WEIGHT. SIT IN IT-IT HOLDS. STAND ON IT-IT HOLDS. WALK IN PLACE ON IT-IT HOLDS. THE SAME IS TRUE WITH GOD. HE KNOWS THAT WE NEED TO TAKE HIS TRUST IN SMALL STEPS, BUT HE PROVES HIMSELF TRUE EVERY TIME.

WE CAN TRUST HIM BECAUSE HE HAS PROVEN HIMSELF TRUE – v.10

God never has, nor will He ever, forsake, desert, or disown those who duly seek His face and place their trust in Him. He may afflict, but will not leave us comfortless; He may SEEM to forsake, but that is when He gathers His own into His mercy.

READ EXODUS 14:10-14. THE ISRAELITES WERE CORNERED WITH AN OCEAN AT THEIR BACK AND AN ARMY AT THEIR FRONT. BUT GOD TOLD THEM TO "BE STILL AND SEE THE SALVATION OF YOUR GOD." JUST WHEN THINGS SEEM THE BLEAKEST, GOD WILL LET YOU SEE HIM ROLL UP HIS SLEEVES AND WORK THINGS OUT. (reference Job 23:8-10)

“Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.” 1 Thessalonians 5:24

“The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness…” 2 Peter 3:9

“I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread “ Psalms 37:25

“Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? 27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? 28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: 29 And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? 31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? 32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.” Matthew 6:26-32

WE WILL PRAISE AND WORSHIP HIM – v.11

Oswald Chambers said in his book My Utmost for His Highest, “Worship is giving God the best that He has given you. Whenever you get a blessing from God, then you are to give it back to Him as a love gift. Take time to meditate before God and offer the blessing back to Him in a deliberate act of worship. If you hoard a thing for yourself, it will turn into spiritual dry rot, as the manna did when it was hoarded. God will never let you hold a spiritual thing for yourself, it has to be given back to Him that He may make it a blessing to others.”
