Summary: Zacchaeus wanted to see who Jesus really was. Do you want to know who Jesus really is? You need to put yourself in a position to see him, like Zacchaeus.
Sermon Notes: Please listen to the Audio Sermon for the full version.
Zacchaeus was a very little man and a very little man was he. He climbed up into a sycamore tree for the saviour he wanted to see.
We’re celebrating with Mark and Lou today as it is baby Jaden’s dedication service. We thank God for him. He is a very little man but I hope he never becomes a tax collector. Only kidding – honest!
Zacchaeus wanted to see who Jesus was.
We want little Jaden to see who Jesus is.
I imagine ‘Zacc’ as an excited child shining up the tree to get a good view of Jesus.
He knew what he had to do to see Jesus.
What do we need to do to see Jesus?
Zacc’s view was obscured, but he rose above it.
Is your view of Jesus obscured?
Is your view of the real Jesus obscured?
What do you need to do to get a clear view of him?
At a recent fireworks display in Billericay my little daughter could not see. “Daddy I can’t see!” That soon gave way to, “I can see now!” once she was lifted onto our shoulders.
What do we need to do to get a clear view?
We can’t climb a tree, grab Jesus’ robes or chat over food. However, we can read the gospel accounts. My friend Derek did that and he came through to faith in Jesus after reading a Gideon Bible.
We pray Mark & Lou will help Jaden to ‘see’ Jesus.
Jesus said, “Seek and you will find.”
Jesus says to you, like Zacc, “I must stay at your house today.” If you seek Jesus he says that to you.
The result was the transformation of Zacc. For him, money had been his god but after meeting and eating with Jesus his attitude to money was transformed.
My prayer is that we will each seek Jesus like this every day.
So, please put yourself in a position, in a place where you can see Jesus daily. Read the gospels, meet with him and you will be transformed.
