VIII. MAIN BODY:
A. Trust and Roll yourself to the LORD
"He trusted and rolled himself on the Lord, that He would deliver him."
Illustration: In the world, there's rock n roll. In the fire drill, there's drop and roll, but for us, we trust and roll.
Now the people stood by [calmly and leisurely] watching; but the rulers scoffed and sneered (turned up their noses) at Him, saying, He rescued others [from death]; let Him now rescue Himself, if He is the Christ (the Messiah) of God, His Chosen One!
Commit your way to the Lord [roll and repose each care of your load on Him]; trust (lean on, rely on, and be confident) also in Him and He will bring it to pass.
Cast your burden on the Lord [releasing the weight of it] and He will sustain you; He will never allow the [consistently] righteous to be moved (made to slip, fall, or fail).
Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully.
Roll your works upon the Lord [commit and trust them wholly to Him; He will cause your thoughts to become agreeable to His will, and] so shall your plans be established and succeed.
Before we roll or cast all our burdens, anxieties, concerns and worries to the LORD but now we roll or cast our whole self to the LORD.
B. The LORD will deliver us because He delights in us
"Let Him deliver him, seeing that He delights in him!"
As with a sword [crushing] in my bones, my enemies taunt and reproach me, while they say continually to me, Where is your God?
Saying, God has forsaken him; pursue and persecute and take him, for there is none to deliver him.
Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore will I deliver him; I will set him on high, because he knows and understands My name [has a personal knowledge of My mercy, love, and kindness—trusts and relies on Me, knowing I will never forsake him, no, never].
Now rescue Yourself [from death], coming down from the cross!
So also the chief priests, with the scribes, made sport of Him to one another, saying, He rescued others [from death]; Himself He is unable to rescue.
