Message Point: You must ground yourself in the Truth or face the consequences.

Focus Passage: I John 2:18-27

I. Deny the Christ

a. Anti-Christ – against Jesus; opposed to Jesus.

b. Christianity isn’t a set of rules; it is a relationship with Jesus. You get rid of Jesus, you get rid of Christianity.

II. Desert the Church

a. Physical Desertion - People who at one time were physically present in the church but have now deserted the church and have gone their own way.

b. Moral Desertion – doing anything and everything the lost world does

c. Intellectual Desertion - Apostasy

III. Deceive the Christian

a. Cults aren’t looking to win lost souls to the Lord; they are looking to deceive professing Christians

iii. Jehovah Witnesses

b. Three things to help you not be deceived:

i. Stay in church

ii. Stay in the Word of God

iii. Abide in the Spirit of God

Invitation: Have you been deceived? Do you want to live like the world lives? Have you noticed that you are falling away from your faith and away from Jesus? Now is the time to return.
