Transitional sentence- By looking in the psalm we see that Christians should dwell

together in unity in the Local Church.

Intro:

Approach Sentence- Imagine that you are part of a United Nations peace keeping force

sent into a war torn country on a peace keeping mission.

Outline portion

I. Your group is made up of people from different country's, different ethnic group's,

different background's.

A. American, French, English.

B. Not all believe in a Democratic Government.

C. All are there on a single mission

II. The group must work together to establish it's goal.

A. Each must lay aside his preference's, idea's and wants.

B. If they want to be successful.

III. If each man had to be in charge or wanted everything his way.

A. The mission would be a mess

B. It would be doomed to fail.

V. There must be Unity- 1. The state or quality of being one; singleness. 2. The state or

quality of being in accord; harmony.

A. Of thought

B. Of focus

C. Of Direction.

Biblical Orientation

I. The Local Church is like this peace keeping force.

A. Your Church is made up of people from different Area's of the country, different

ethnic group's, different background's.

A. People form the East, West, North and South

B. Not all believe exactly the same.

C. All are on a single mission

II. The group must work together to establish it's goals

A. Each must lay aside his preference's, idea's and wants.

B. If they want to be successful.

III. If each man had to be in charge or wanted everything his way.

A. The mission would be a mess

Transitional Sentence- By looking in the psalm we see that Christians should dwell

I. Christian's should dwell in unity because it is good. v.1

A. Good- 2896. towb, tobe beautiful, best, better, bountiful, cheerful, at ease, pleaseth,

pleasure, precious, prosperity, ready, sweet, wealth, welfare, (be) well ([-

favoured]).

1. Good for the growth of the Church

2. Good for the growth of Christians Eph 4:3

B. It is good for other's.

1. It is good for the world to see Christian's in unity.

2. It is good for other's of different faith's to see Christian's in unity.

C. Illus: When a kid gets something other's don't have.

1. Other kids are drawn to that one.

2. Other kids want the same thing.

D. App: When you get along with other's.

1. People are drawn to you.

2. They want what you have.

II. Christians should dwell in unity because it is pleasant.v1

A. 5273. na'iym, naw-eem'; from H5276; delightful (obj. or subj., lit. or fig.):--pleasant

(-ure), sweet.

1. It is pleasant to God.

2. It is pleasant to the Pastor

3. It is pleasant to fellow Christian's

B. Illus: The oil in Aaron's beard. v2

1.The pleasantness of this is likened to the holy anointing oil.

2. It is a picture of sanctification.

3. It is a picture of Holiness

C. Illus: It is profitable as well as pleasing; it brings blessings numerous as the drops of

dew. v3a

1.It cools the scorching heat of men's passions, as the dews cool the air and refresh

the earth.

2.It moistens the heart, and makes it fit to receive the good seed of the word, and to

make it fruitful.

D. App: What is most pleasant to you?

1. getting along with other's

2. causing trouble

3. One is like the refreshing dew in the morning.

III. Christian's should dwell in unity because it brings God's blessing's v3b

A. God commands the blessing; man can but beg a blessing.

B. The Blessing's of peace

1. Peace to live the Christian life fruitfully. John 20:21

2. Peace to overcome adversity.

C. Illus: Compare the Christian with peace

1. to the one's without peace

Objective sentence: Therefore we as Christian should dwell in Unity
