“Walking Circumspectly”
Text: Eph 5:15,16
Intro:
Tonight I would like to bring you a message entitled Walking Circumspectly. I take the title from the King James Version…of our text which says… ”See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.”
The word Circumspectly means: exactly, diligently, or perfect. Tonight I would like to take a few minutes and have conversation with you concerning this
passage of scripture.
?What do you think this passage means?
?How do we live our lives carefully?
I believe that it is important for us to be aware of our enemy and understand his ways, but I also believe that there is error in knowing more about our enemy than our savior.
Tonight I hope to be balance in this approach…
Lets look at several ways according to scripture that we can walk circumspectly or carefully.
1. Redeem the Time
Our text says that we are to redeem the time for the days are evil.
a) Making the most of every opportunity
Literally…Buying the opportunity. Retail merchants are “redeeming the time” right now…making the
most of the holiday season. By redeeming the time, we do good, while it is in the power of our hands.
b) Because the days are evil
In Pauls day the Christians were being persecuted very blatantly so it was easy to see why Paul declared the days as evil. Could we call the day in which we live evil? If so in what way?
2. Understand what the Lord’s will is
Is it possible to know the Lord’s will for our lives?
How will that help us to walk circumspectly?
3. Be filled with the Spirit
Romans 13:13,14
4. Minister to one another
Psalms, Hymns, Spiritual Songs
Making Melody in your heart
Col 3:16
5. Always Give Thanks to the Lord
Phil 4:6 Be anxious for nothing but with thanksgiving let your requests be know unto God.”
6. Submit to one another
2 Cor 2:5-11
Conclusion
“I have forgiven in the sight of Christ for your sake, in order that Satan might not
outwit us. For we are not unaware of his schemes.”
