“WALKING WITH GOD”

De 5:33 Ye shall walk in all the ways which the LORD your God hath commanded you, that ye may live, and [that it may be] well with you, and [that] ye may prolong [your] days in the land which ye shall possess.
De 10:12 And now, Israel, what doth the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul,
De 13:4 Ye shall walk after the LORD your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him.
1. Reconciliation
Amos 3:3 “can two walk together except they be agreed?”
Romans 8:7 “Because the carnal mind is enmity against God for it is not subject to the law of God, neither, indeed, can be.”
2 Yielding
Ro 6:13 Neither yield ye your members [as] instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members [as] instruments of righteousness unto God.
3. Fellowship (companionship) closely associated to God
4. Direction (Divine direction) Going in God’s direction not ours.
John 10:27 “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:”
5. Progress (spiritual)
6. Wisdom
7. Commitment
8. Character
There are three daily challenges to being the spiritual person God intended and saved us to be. Each of these are very challenging!
1. UNWAVERING DEVOTION 7:1
Jesus was not dishearten to the point that He quit because of the choice of the many who chose not to walk with Him. Even when others would not walk with Him, He still walked with God the Father.
The motto of every missionary, whether preacher, printer, or schoolmaster, ought to be “Devoted for life.” The Golden Shore
1. Faithful Steadfastness 7:1 “After these things Jesus walked”
7:1 WALKED 4043 peripateo per?ee?pat?eh’?o: 1) to walk 1a) to make one’s way, progress; to make due use of opportunities 1b) Hebrew for, to live 1b1) to regulate one’s life 1b2) to conduct one’s self 1b3) to pass one’s life
2. Personal Sacrifice 7:1 “He would not”
Luke 9:23 And he said to [them] all, If any [man] will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.
3. Spiritual Success 7:18 “no unrighteousness is in him”
2. ALLURING DISTRACTIONS 7:2-10
Devices of distraction that are very powerful. So powerful, that most don’t survive their allurement long much less a lifetime.
1. Acceptance 7:3 “the Jews’ feast”
2. Influences 7:3 “His brethren”
3. Recognition 7:4 “seeketh to be known openly”
4. Manipulation 7:4b “if thou do these things”
3. SPIRITUAL DISCERNMENT 7:6-18 *6:6 “my time is not yet come”
The sad indictment against many of His followers is that they lived by the physical and temporal perception rather than the spiritual 6:60 & 6:63.
Jesus was totally different. He was a spiritual man. Notice again what He said in John 5:19-20. Now you see the spiritual discernment fleshed out.
The Scriptures tells us much about this way (the spiritual way)of life: I Corinthians 3:6-14.
There are three critical aspects involved in discerning God’s revelation
1. Attentive aspect 7:
2. Ambition aspect 7:18
3. Application aspect 7:8
