Beloved, the New Testament repeatedly instructs us to live for Jesus daily. Yes we are called to be living testimonies for Him wherever we maybe. So what does it really mean to live for Jesus? Well here is your answer
1) John 13:35 ‘By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for another.’ – The compassion and love of Jesus for all must be evident through you. This includes treating everyone with respect equally and not showing differences based on class, race, religion, ethnicity or social status. I have seen so called Christians ill-treat their domestic help badly. I have seen so called Christians who attend the English service of churches, within the church premises itself treat their fellow brothers and sisters from the Sinhala & Tamil congregation very badly. Beloved to live for Jesus means to manifest His love and compassion to all.
2) Matthew 5:16 ‘Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in Heaven.’ – Many preach that since we have been saved by grace we do not need to show good works. But that is not what the Bible says. Titus 2:7 says ‘in all things showing yourself to be a pattern of good works.’ Titus 3:8 ‘This is a faithful saying, and these things I want you to affirm constantly, that those who have believed in God should be careful to maintain good works.’ 1 Peter 1:15 ‘but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct.’ Philippians 2:12 ‘work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.’ The result of being saved by grace is that our lives will reflect and manifest the works of Christ. Everything we say and do will be manifestation of His nature and attitude. People who meet you or talk to you will see in you the finished work of Christ daily. To live for Jesus means to reflect Him here on earth.
3) Luke 8:21 ‘My mother and My brothers are these who heard the word of God and do it.’ Matthew 7:21 ‘Not everyone who says to Me, Lord, Lord shall enter the kingdom of Heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in Heaven.’ – Obedience and faithfulness to Him are all that the Lord expects from us. An obedient person will always be faithful. Similarly a faithful person will always be an obedient person. So both go together. Beloved are you obedient in all things when it comes to following God’s Word and doing His will? To live for Jesus means to obey and be faithful to Him until your last day here on earth.
Beloved let us live for Jesus daily. Everything in this world is temporary. Even our life here on earth is temporary. Tomorrow we might be called to leave this temporary existence and move onto our permanent place of residence. The only things which are forever is Jesus and our eternal life with Him in Heaven. So live for Him daily. – pastor Romesh Daniels.
