Summary: Gone are the days of Mayberry and leave it to beaver. What happend to the FAMILY?

Eph 5:16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

Eph 5:17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.

Eph 5:18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;

Eph 5:19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

Eph 5:20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

Eph 5:21 Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

Eph 5:22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.

Eph 5:23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the savior of the body.

Eph 5:24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.

Eph 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

Eph 5:26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

Eph 5:27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

Eph 5:28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.

Eph 5:29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:

Eph 5:30 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.

Eph 5:31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.

Eph 5:32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

Eph 5:33 Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.

Eph 6:1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.

Eph 6:2 Honor thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise;

Eph 6:3 That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.

Eph 6:4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

Here we find a very significant verse of scripture. What is so special about this text? There is a very import principal here that if we understood and pursued we would solve in that, most of our problems. That principal is That there are two institutions in this world that without them the world could not go on, and without one another either could not survive. The church could not be the church without first being the Family, and the Family can never really be The Family without being The Church.

I have heard the story told of a family that was a family, It started with the Father, The Father was the Provider of his family, he did nothing and cared for nothing but the welfare of his family meaning his dear wife, his perfect bride and love of all time.

She cared for nothing but the welfare of her hard working husband who never failed to provide for her. She knew that her Husband would do anything for her and would always provide her every need and do all that was within his power to fulfill her every desire. Knowing this and treasuring this , she purposed in her heart that if he would provide and lover and protect her, then should would give her love to no other, and her desire and want in life would be to help him and speak well of him, and to meet his needs by taking his provision and preparing it, by cooking it, and washing and cleaning, and if at all possible if it meant pain and discomfort she desired to give back to him a child, an err to his work, a son to pass down his name, that even when his work was done and he was old and passed that his reputation of goodness, provision, would be remembered by his name from generation to generation.

The son was nurtured and brought up by his caring , loving mother. He was never without because of his determined hardworking Father and his selfless mother. He grew up with nothing but love and respect and admonition for his mother and father. He watched his Father and listed to his mother and eventually he would become a man and there was nothing that he desired more than to be like his father, just as his father sacrificed and worked , the young man looked and awaited for the moment that he knew from the depths of his heart would one day come, the chance to provide for someone as his father , to teach and nourish , like his mother , and to one day take that name given by his father , and give it to another . This was The Family.
