Truth (Part 1)

John 14:6 Jesus *said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me

What is truth?

· Christ John-14:6 Jesus *said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me The Way-Why?

· Holy Spirit-John 14:17 17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. 18I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you. “Can’t receive”-why? They can’t see Him nor receive Him. But! You can!

· God’s Word-John 17:17 17 Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth. Sanctify-Set apart!

· Gospel-Gal. 2:5,14 5to whom we did not yield submission even for an hour, that the truth of the gospel might continue with you. 14But when I saw that they were not straightforward about the truth of the gospel, I said to Peter before them all, "If you, being a Jew, live in the manner of Gentiles and not as the Jews, why do you compel Gentiles to live as Jews?

· God’s Law-Ps. 119:142-160

·

What are the effects of Truth?

· Freedom-John 8:31,32 31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, "If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." “If”-Choice to be free or bound.

· Establish you-Eph. 4:14,15 14 that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, 15but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ. Establish your identity-Who you are-once again choice

· Purify you-1 Peter 1:22 22 Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart. Truth can do this.
