WHAT JESUS WANTS FROM THE CHURCH

Text: John 17:9-24
I. THAT THE CHURCH WOULD SENSE THE GLORY OF GOD. (v.22)
A. Glory means; the visible manifestation of the splendor, power & radiance of God.
B. Whenever God’s presence comes down within the church, it lifts up the people spiritually.
C. A churches value is not in the facility’ pastor or the programs. The church has value because Jesus is in them.
II. THAT THE CHURCH WOULD FOLLOW THE WORD OF GOD. (v.8)
A. When we receive God Word it gives lives;
B. When we continually study, & learn scripture, we begin to change.
III. THAT THE CHURCH WOULD BE UNITED IN THE LOVE OF GOD.
A. God’s people, unified in love, believing in a common goal, can accomplish anything.
IV. THAT THE CHURCH WOULD GO FORTH IN THE MISSION OF GOD. (V. 17-18)
A. Jesus asked God to sanctify us so we could go out into the world.
B. Sanctify means; to be set apart & equipped for a special mission.
C. The mission; to bring the good news to the lost so that they might be saved.
V. THAT THE CHURCH WOULD EXPERIENCE THE JOY OF GOD. (v.13)
A. What gives the church, a body of believers joy?
B. Obedience to God in these things.
1. Giving God glory.
2. Following His Word.
3. Being united in love.
4. Carrying out His mission.
