What it’s All About Text: Colossians 1: 3-6

We say: “All God expects of us is faithfulness!” Wrong! He expects faithfulness and fruitfulness! Fruitfulness is a major theme of the New Testament. In-fact, the word fruit is used 55 times in the New Testament. The nation of Israel lost its privileges because of unfruitfulness; therefore, we (God’s church) cannot afford to be satisfied, self-absorbed and stop bearing fruit.

I. One of the saddest things to see is a church that has flourished, but now it seems that God has removed His mighty hand of blessings from her.

A. What is being fruitful? #1. It’s you bearing fruit! John 15: 16 You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.

B. Being fruitful is a good indication of your gratitude! Men and women who aren’t grateful could careless! You have been chosen and appointed to bear fruit!

C. Illustration: of bad fruit vs. good fruit! (Who would eat this rotten piece of fruit? How about this one?) Why should it be different with Christ?

D. #2. God wants to see lasting results from your ministry! Col.1: 3 We give thanks to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you, (We should always give thanks and pray for each other.) Anybody can point a finger, but who will pray?

E. John Maxwell says, during your lifetime you will directly or indirectly influence the lives of at least ten thousand other people.” The question you need to ask yourself is, “How will I influence them?”

F. John 15:8 By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.

G. In the book of Revelation Chapter 1-3 Jesus Christ warns the 7 churches of their unfruitfulness, but He tells each one of them they can still repent! (Jesus gives them an option: rotten fruit or good fruit!)

H. Col. 1:4 since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of your love for all the saints; 1. Faith. 2. Love.

I. Matthew 3:8 Therefore bear fruits worthy of repentance, (Live such a fruitful loving, giving life that others will desire to repent!)

J. Col. 1:5-6 because of the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, of which you heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel, 6 which has come to you, as it has also in all the world, and is bringing forth fruit, as it is also among you since the day you heard and knew the grace of God in truth;

K. This life is all about you being faithful and bearing fruit.#3. Are you ready to produce?
