Summary: Have you ever wondered what we will be like in Heaven? Will people recognize us? What will our bodies be like? Will we be sad knowing we have left others behind? Lets find some answers from scripture!

When We Get To Heaven

I. In Mark, Chapter 12, religious leaders confront Jesus and try to catch him with trick questions. Some of them asked, "Should we pay taxes to Caesar or not?" Jesus asked for a penny. Someone gave Him one. Holding it up so they could see, Jesus asked whose image was on the coin. They answered, "Caesars". Jesus answered, "Give unto Caesar the things that are his and to God the things that are Gods".

They were amazed at His answer. They thought they had all the answers but here was a Man that could answer them without a chance of being challenged. When He gave an answer that settled it. No more questions needed. They probably just fell back into the crowd before Jesus could put them to more shame.

Then it was the Sadducees turn to ask a question. They thought they had one that couldnt be answered without looking foolish.

Look at Mark 12:18-25, "Then come unto him the Sadducees, which say there is no resurrection; and they asked him, saying, 19 Master, Moses wrote unto us, If a mans brother die, and leave his wife behind him, and leave no children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother. 20 Now there were seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and dying left no seed. 21 And the second took her, and died, neither left he any seed: and the third likewise. 22 And the seven had her, and left no seed: last of all the woman died also. 23 In the resurrection therefore, when they shall rise, whose wife shall she be of them? for the seven had her to wife. 24 And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God? 25 For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven."

Jesus said the dead shall resurrect and be like the angels in Heaven.

I. Have you ever wondered what were going to be like in Heaven?

A. For the next few minutes lets look at some scriptures to see if we can get some answers about our bodies when we get to Heaven.

II. First of all, will people recognize us? Will we look the same in Heaven as we did on earth? Will I know you and vice versa?

A. Matt. 17:1-4, "And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart, 2 And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light. 3 And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him. 4 Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias."

a. It doesnt say that an angel announced who these two men were who were talking to Jesus. The disciples seemed to know who they were the minute they saw them. Moses and Elijah had lived on earth long before the disciples, yet they still recognized who they were.

b. Remember when Jesus met the two people on their way to Emmaus? At first they didnt recognize Jesus. While they walked Jesus taught them and all the time they didnt know Who He was.

c. When they got to the home of one of the travelers, they invited Jesus to come in for a meal. During the meal Jesus served them bread and the Bible says it was then their eyes were opened and they recognized Him. Then He vanished.

d. The key to this is the fact that "their eyes were opened".

e. When we get to Heaven our new glorified eyes will be opened to everything. We will see Jesus and know Him but He will never vanish like He did in Emmaus.

B. So yes, I believe we will recognize each other in Heaven.

C. How about children who have died as babies, will they be recognized? I believe we will be introduced to them. Maybe an angel will take us by the hand and say, "The Lord would like you to meet someone".

a. My mother had two miscarriages after she had me. They were both male babies. I may be introduced to them or I may not. Mom & dad, several aunts, uncles & cousins are already there, I may recognize them but Ill tell you what, for sure Ill recognize Jesus and God the Father.

b. How can I say this without being taken wrong? When we get there and are in the presence of our Lord, just when will we get bored and say, "Excuse me Jesus, but Ive got some others up here to see?"
