WORM

:8—“And it came about when the sun came up that God appointed a scorching east wind, & the sun beat down on Jonah’s head so that he became faint & begged with all his soul to die, saying, “Death is better to me than life.””

WIND—Scorching east wind—Shirocco

“Scorching/Vehement”—yvyrx—Harsh, hot.

SUN— “Beat down”—Hot, Sweltering

—Argumentation:

Heb. 12:10-11—“For they disciplined us for a short time as seemed best to them, but He disciplines us for our good, that we may share His holiness. All discipline for the moment seems not to be joyful, but sorrowful; yet to those who have been trained by it, afterwards it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness.”

8—Where displeasure meets grace there is

ENLIGHTENING GRIEF(:8)

—Explanation:(:8)

:8—“And it came about when the sun came up that God appointed a scorching east wind, & the sun beat down on Jonah’s head so that he became faint & begged with all his soul to die, saying, “Death is better to me than life.””

—Argumentation:

2Cor. 7:8-11—“For though I caused you sorrow by my letter, I do not regret it; though I did regret it--for I see that that letter caused you sorrow, though only for a while-- I now rejoice, not that you were made sorrowful, but that you were made sorrowful to the point of repentance; for you were made sorrowful according to the will of God, in order that you might not suffer loss in anything through us. For the sorrow that is according to the will of God produces a repentance without regret, leading to salvation; but the sorrow of the world produces death. For behold what earnestness this very thing, this godly sorrow, has produced in you: what vindication of yourselves, what indignation, what fear, what longing, what zeal, what avenging of wrong! In everything you demonstrated yourselves to be innocent in the matter.”
