“Which Spirit Will I Let Live Within Me???”

Overall text: I John 4:4

Momentary text: Matthew 12:43-45

2 things that are apparent in the Bible:

1. Unclean spirits (occurs 21 times in entire Bible; 20 times in NT)

2. Foul spirits (2 times entire Bible)

The Bible never makes a reference to a “clean spirit”!!!

The importance of having what is right on the inside:

Computers do what they are programmed to do!

Animals eventually do what comes natural to them!

Babies are some of the best examples of actions due to spirits!

The spirit within a person is their program!

Whatever spirit that overtakes our spirit becomes our new program even if but for a moment!

Some important things the Bible shows us about unclean spirits:

1. They are not scared to enter into the temple! (Mark 1:23-26)

2. They are not phased by position or purpose! (Acts 16:16-18)

3. They are not moved by the Name of JESUS when they know that you do not know Him for yourself! (Acts 19:13-16)

4. They do not & will not ever give you a “fair fight”! (Momentary Text)

*************************************************************

1. They all do recognize & bow down before JESUS!!! (Mark 3:11)

2. They can be cast out & rendered totally powerless!! (Matthew 10:1)

3. They know those who have Power in JESUS!!! (Acts 19:15a)

4. We have authority over them through JESUS!!! (Luke 10:19)

Conclusions from the text:

(v. 43) We should not let unclean spirits find rest within our lives!

(v. 44) We should strive to remain clean after GOD cleans us up!

(v. 45) Never let unclean spirits return because they will not move in alone!

I John 4:4

Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is

he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
