Who Moved? Series

We see here God is saying He never changes He is immutable. Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.
He never changes. His Love for us doesn’t change, His mercy don’t change, His plan for salvation never has changed and never will. And his judgment doesn’t change.
“therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.” God is talking here about the Abrahamic covenant.
He is saying, “The only reason I have not destroyed you is because I do not change and I made a promise.”
Lamentations 3:22 It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
Jeremiah 3 we see a similar picture of a call to repentance tied to marriage. In verses 6-11 but verses 12-13 has the key to reconcillation.
How many here would be willing to take their spouse back after they cheated on you say 20 times? How about 10? 5? Even once is too many isn’t it. They why do we expect the Lord to take us back repeatedly?
Notice that God calls for them to return and then deals with tithing.
Money can be a pointer to where our heart is (Matthew 6:21 for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.)
They robed him in commitment before they robed him of tithes and offerings.
If you are committed to God then tithing is not an issue.
Illustration: Middle aged husband and wife are driving down the road and when they pull up to the stop light and can’t help but notice the young couple in the car next to them sitting next to one another his arm around her and they were kissing wile waiting on the light to turn green. And the wife looks over at her husband who is driving and says “you remember when we used to do that?” And the husband says “yea, I remember” and the wife says “how come we don’t do that any more?” and the husband replies “I’m not the one who moved”
Tithing was given before the law. Tithing is not given to meet a need. It is given to worship God.
If God owns the cattle on a thousand hills how is it that we can rob him? We rob him of blessing us.
1. Our first occurrence of tithing is in Gen. 14 when we see that Abram gave a tithe to Melchizedek.
2. Verse 11 gives us three promises
A. Protection (I will rebuke the devourer) God says I’m gonna protect you.
B. Provision (nor shall the vine fell to bear fruit for you) God says I’m gonna make sure you don’t go hungry.)
C. His Blessings verse 12 remember the Abrahamic convent I will bless them that bless you and curse them that curse you and all nations shall call you blessed.
God does not change his blessing will always remain for all time
