Summary: Be careful of who is applauding your efforts. If it is not God the final review will not be favorable.

Gal 1:9-10

9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

10 For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men ? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ. KJV

I am a people person and a joiner. Having grown up the only child I did all I could to have friends. That has not changed except that the Bible tells me that if to have a friend I have to please that friend and displease God then I have to stay away from that friendship that displeases Him.

Many Christians do not see this and have developed a laissez-faire attitude entering into personal and ecclesiastical relationships that God disapproves. This hurts the individual and the Body of Christ. Indeed, the unbelievers mock us for many reasons, but one of them is that we have given the idea that God doesn't really care about what we believe as long as we attend meetings at a building called a church and call ourselves Christian. Oh, how I wish that were the case. My life would be amazingly easy. Yet, the Bible is replete with admonitions about maintaining sound doctrine and right relationships.

I would love to be more pleasing to man, but to do so I would have to displease God. I have enough infirmities that I need His power to rest upon me that I do not need to add a barrier between us. Thus there are many who name the name of Christ that I can be cordial to but cannot walk together with them because we are not agreed. I would rather be absolutely alone in the world pleasing God than being the most sought after preacher in the world and being at odds with the One who saved my soul.
