Why G-L-O-R-Y Is Due Christ

Jn. 1:14 Why G-L-O-R-Y Is Due Christ
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and
we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the
Father,) full of grace and truth.
I.G-ive - Titus 2:14
Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from
all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people,
zealous of good works.
A. Christ gave Himself for us.
1. He died on the cross to pay the Penalty for our
sins.
2. The Innocent One died for the guilty.
B. Christ DESERVES to be glorified in our lives.
1. We must accept Him as LORD.
2. We must share Him with others.
3. We must give our tithes.
4. Jesus Christ deserves our best.
Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down,
shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For
with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you."
II. L-ove - Gal. 2:20
I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who
live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in
the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me
and gave Himself for me. [you] [you]
A. Christ’s great love brought faith, love, and hope to
fallen mankind.
B. Our love brings glory to Christ. When we love
Him, we also love the less fortunate, the lonely, the
sick, and the bereaved.
C. We should bring faith, hope, and love as Christ did.
So he answered and said, "’You shall love the Lord your God with
all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all
your mind,’ and ’your neighbor as yourself.’ "
III. O-bey - Phil. 2:8 [oh boy, everybody loves this one]
Philip. 2:8
And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and
became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.
A. Jesus Christ humbled Himself, becoming “obedient
to the point of death.” He was not bound by social
pressures but obeyed God rather than men.
B. We bring glory to Christ by following His example
of obedience. We obey God when we seek His will
and work for Him.
Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves
slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves whom you obey,
whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to
righteousness?
IV. R-ely - Jn. 8:28
Then Jesus said to them, "When you lift up the Son of Man, then you
will know that I am He, and that I do nothing of Myself; but as My
Father taught Me, I speak these things.
A. Jesus Christ did not rely on His own power, but
He depended on the divine power of His Heavenly
Father.
B. Neither can we accomplish anything with our own
power . We bring glory to Christ by relying on
His power for daily strength and direction.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
V. Y-ield - Mt. 26:39
He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, "O
My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not
as I will, but as You will."
A. In His most difficult struggle, which involved life
or death, Christ chose His Father’s will rather than
His own Human desire. He died to bring life to
fallen mankind.
B. When we yield our wills to God’s will, we become
alive in God. We are enabled to work, witness,
and win others to Him, bringing glory to Christ.
And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness
to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and
your members as instruments of righteousness to God.
