Summary: See why going to church is healthy for you and your family.

Why Is Church Healthy For You And Your Family

Proverbs 4:20-23 (NKJV) My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings.

21 Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart;

22 For they are life to those who find them, And health to all their flesh.

23 Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life.

In this verse Solomon tell us that doing what the Word of God says will bring health to our Bodies.

Some might say, well this isn't talking about our physical bodies but our spirit, well let's see about that.

Health. KJVHEB: 4832. מַרְפֵּא marppḗ, mar-pay';

CWS_OT: A masculine noun indicating health, healing, a remedy. It refers to the restoration, cure, or renewal of an illness, sickness: It has the sense of health or healing with respect to the body. It also means medicine.

Proverbs 3:7-8 (NKJV) 7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the LORD and depart from evil.

8 It will be health to your flesh, And strength to your bones.

So we see that God's word and living for God is medicine to all of our flesh.

Now where do we get God's Word? A church

So What is a Church and why is it healthy for us.

Here what Jesus said about the church.

Matthew 16:13-18 (NKJV) When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, saying, “Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?” 14 So they said, “Some say John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” 15 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” 16 Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” 17 Jesus answered and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. 18 “And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.

So we see the Church are those who have received the revelation that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God.

Jesus told His disciples that it's this revelation that the whole Christian foundation is build upon, that Jesus is the Messiah, Lord and Savior of the world.

As we receive this revelation, we go to church and then share with other this great healthy message.

This is what we see happening right from the beginning in the Book of Acts, the Church history book.

Attending services lowers blood pressure the more you go

Researchers found that attending services lowers blood pressure – and the more often you go the lower it becomes.

Previous studies in the U.S. suggested the link, but as 40% of Americans regularly go to church its health benefits were treated as a coincidence. So the Norwegian researchers, who had just 4% of churchgoers among their 120,000 participants, were surprised to see they too had lower blood pressure.

‘We found that the more often the participants went to church the lower their blood pressure.

‘Previous research from the United States has shown that there is a possible link between people who attend church and blood pressure.

‘About 40 per cent of the U.S. population goes to church on a weekly basis, while the corresponding figure in Nord-Trondelag County, where the research was carried out, is 4 per cent.

'For that reason, we did not expect to find any correlation between going to church and blood pressure.

'Our findings, however, are almost identical to those previously reported from the United States, so we were really surprised.’

Another Study: Regular attendance at religious services has been shown to decrease death rates among Elderly people.

A large US study found that religious folk had lower blood pressure, less depression and anxiety, stronger immune systems and generally cost the health-care system less than people who were less involved in religion.

The research looked at 4,000 old people from North Carolina, and found that of the 1,177 who died during a six-year period, 22.9% were frequent church attenders, compared with 37.4 who were infrequent attenders.

Similar results were produced by the University of California at Berkeley in a study of some 5,000 people aged 21 to 65.

Those who attended religious services at least once a week had a 23% lower risk of dying over the 28 years on which the research was based.
