Summary: One of the many symbols for the Holy Spirit is the WIND. It is a powerful symbol that we need to recognize and accept. Without Him, we will be spiritually poor, by our own choosing. Let the wind blow and be blessed.

Wind Power or Wind Poor

Man has only begun to take advantage of the wind. Giant windmills are being built in drafty locations to convert the breeze into energy to light and heat homes and businesses.

PNEUMATOLOGY

A symbol of the Holy Ghost

There are other symbols that tell us a great deal about the Holy Spirit:

Fire--to purify and illuminate

Water--to cleanse; to sustain life

Oil--for healing, consecration, comforting, and anointing

Dove--gentle, peaceful, guiding

Gen. 2:7

7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. (KJV)

(RVG04)

"breathed" = a blast of wind; divine inspiration

Ezek. 37:5,9

5 Thus saith the Lord GOD unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live: (KJV)

(RVG04)

"breath" = a violent exhaling

9 Then said he unto me, Prophesy unto the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live. {wind: or, breath} (KJV)

(RVG04)

The wind opened and returned the Red Sea--Exo. 14:21 & 15:10

The wind controlled the plague of the locusts upon the Egyptians--Exo. 10:13 & 10:19

The wind dried up the flood waters from the earth so it could be inhabited once again--Gen. 8:1

The wind brought the quail to the complaining Israelites--Nu. 11:31

The wind speaks of the Power of God and it speaks of CHANGE. When God, by the Holy Ghost breathes/blows, something is going to change.

The Holy Ghost in the wind was brought life to that valley of old dry bones in the prophecy of Ezekiel.

When Elijah was hiding in the cave, hiding from Jezebel, there was a wind, a fire, and an earthquake. God sent them all. The wind He sent was not just a gentle breeze. It was something to reckoned with.

The Holy Spirit is Soveriegn. You cannot and you will not govern Him. Such is the wind. There is no way to capture it or control it, conquer it, or command it to do what you want. The only One who was able to do that is Christ. When He said "Peace be still", the winds immediately calmed down.

The wind can be highly unpredictable. One minute it may be still, the next it is moving swiftly. It may blow from one direction then suddenly change to the opposite direction.

It cannot be seen, but there is great evidence upon everything it moves upon.

But, remember, the Holy Ghost is a gentleman. He will only blow into your life in the form of a blessing, as you are open to Him and allow Him access. Now, He will blow in like a whirlwind, with judgment, upon all those who would make light of Him.

I want to experience more of the power of the Wind.

It is so sad that many will settle to be Wind poor; no desire for the Holy Ghost to move in their life.

I. The Wind will Blow in Conviction

Jn. 3:8

8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. (KJV)

(RVG04)

He will blow upon your life in one way of another to help you understand your need of Him.

He will blow in by His grace.

He will blow in by judgment.

He wants to convince you that you are dependent upon His power.

He will keep you from sleeping if need be; until you are convinced of your need of Him.

II. The Wind Blows in Cleansing

Ps. 1:3,4

3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. {wither: Heb. fade} (KJV)

(RVG04)
