A. The depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of GOD

"Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God!"

1. Definitions from the Greek:

a. depth came from the Greek word: "bathos" which means "profundity", "extent", "mystery"

b. riches came from the Greek word: "ploutos" which means "wealth", "money, possessions", "abundance, richness", "bestowment"

His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms,

Colossians 2:3 (New International Version)

in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

Ephesians 3:8 (New International Version)

Although I am less than the least of all God's people, this grace was given me: to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ,

GOD uses the church to manifest His wisdom to the rulers and authorities of the heavenly realms, to reveal the unsearchable riches of Christ to the Gentiles.

B. GOD's judgments are unsearchable

"How unsearchable his judgments"

Psalms 36:6 (New International Version)

Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, your justice like the great deep. O Lord, you preserve both man and beast.

Psalms 40:5 (New International Version)

Many, O Lord my God, are the wonders you have done. The things you planned for us no one can recount to you; were I to speak and tell of them, they would be too many to declare.

How great are your works, O Lord, how profound your thoughts!

GOD's justice is like the great deep, the wonders are too many to declare, how profound and great are His thoughts, righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.

C. GOD's paths beyond tracing out

"and his paths beyond tracing out!"

Hosea 14:9 (New International Version)

Who is wise? He will realize these things. Who is discerning? He will understand them. The ways of the Lord are right; the righteous walk in them, but the rebellious stumble in them.

Isaiah 55:8 (New International Version)

"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the Lord.

Psalms 27:11 (New International Version)

Teach me your way, O Lord; lead me in a straight path because of my oppressors.
