Summary: Look what the Bible tells about a child of God: You are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people.

You are His favorite!

1 Peter 2:9’But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light’

She said: "Nobody loves me ... the whole world hates me!" Her brother remarked, "That’s not true, Mary. Some people don’t even know you."

Sure, there are days when you feel hopeless, helpless, worthless…and if you are one, actively living out His Word, serving Him even in a small way and passionately in love with Him, then be ready and sure to be attacked with feelings of discouragement. That’s when you should turn to the Bible to find out who you are in Christ. Nothing on earth can make you feel better than the Bible! Look what the Bible tells about a child of God: You are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people. Ah, that sounds marvelous! Look around! You see darkness gripping the world, and now understand, you are the light of that place. When I walked into the floor of my office after my salvation experience, my total outlook was different, a deep compassion and burden developed in me for my friends around, who were groping in the dark without Jesus. I started a prayer-cell and revival swept that place. Many accepted Jesus and their lives took a total change after hearing the Gospel. I predominantly emphasized about ‘holiness’ in my preaching, which touched the hearts of people. Many were struggling with adultery, homosexuality and other sexual related sins, Jesus delivered them and gave them a fresh beginning.

Friends, remember God did not reveal Himself to you, so that you keep that experience locked in the cupboard, look what the scripture says, ‘that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.’ Back while working, during the lunch break, once in a week, I would go out for outreach ministries on my own. I would visit commercial shopping complexes, highways and even street vendors, and distribute Gospel tracts and Bibles. I tell you, if we truly love Jesus, we would spread the good news to the world. I was not trained for ministry, there was none in my family into ministry; however, my passionate love for Him took me to the street to spread His aroma. You are special!

We have failed to look at ourselves in the light of the Word, and that’s why we feel like a worm. A highly educated soft ware engineer wrote to me: ‘sister, because my in-laws kept bullying me and calling me ‘useless,’ now, I feel the same and I want to die.’ Now, that’s not correct. Jesus calls you differently. He says, ‘you are the apple of His eyes!’

I will never forget the birthday wish that I received from my sister, she wrote, ‘continue to be His favorite child.’ I read it over and over again a million times with tears! She pointed out my position in Christ. His favorite!

We call Him the King all right, but let us live like His children and never stoop down to do mean things. A child of God would not feast on the worldly lust that is spread all over today. He should not feed on pornography, corrupt movies, pay much attention to ads that use sex to sell products etc. He would also be cautious against unhealthy language and be sure to speak words seasoned with salt. God bless you!
