Summary: Intro: We are the Temple of God. Man was created in a special way that man will praise and worship God and manifest His glory. But he destroyed himself and God is rebuilding the temple.

The Temple of God - 1 Cor 3:16

On earth, the First Temple of God were Adam and Eve. Adam and his madam, served each other and animals and creatures of earth. Taking care the garden and fellowship was their service to God.

As God calls Noah, Abraham etc, they are making altar to sacrifice to God. Then while one the way from Egypt to Canaan, tabernacle and ark of the covenant were the worship places, where sacrifices were made. (Lev 27:28). Then Solomon made a Temple for the Lord. David was not allowed to make. Solomon’s Temple was destroyed. Zerubabel reconstructed, which was again destroyed. Then Herod made a temple.

During Herod’s temple Jesus visited the Temple. Once in the temple Jesus casts out the business people. They used the temple and had transactions with satan for their gratification and they were self righteous. (Mt.21:12)

Jesus said, “You are the temple of God.” Man is the Temple of God. But man in the beginning destroyed it and till now His temple is being destroyed. Pharisees were destroying the temple of God. (Mt 21:12). Jesus said, “In three days I will rebuild the temple.”

Through the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus that happened in three days. Jesus is rebuilding us. (Mt 26:61).

We are to serve others by keeping ourselves from the transactions of this world. Pharisees destroyed the temple by the business of this world. In 70 A.D according to the prophecy of Jesus, Titus the emperor destroyed the Jerusalem temple by setting fire and killing many people in Jerusalem. Only a wailing wall was left.

- Repented sinner, tax collectors, adulterers are rebuilding the temple and Jesus loved them. Let us wail and repent for the sins and get rid of all the worldly business.

- The vile in the temple was torn into two, to break the self-righteousness of the Pharisees. They might have tried to stitch it, as soon as it was torn. (Mt 27:51). There is free access to the throne of grace.

- Now we are the temple of God in which sacrifices should be made. (Rom 12:12).
