Summary: God does not force Himself or His will upon mankind, we either receive God’s grace or we reject Him. This message deals with the benefits or receiving God’s promises.

(John 1:11&12) "He came unto His own, and they received Him not. But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name."

(1) Our Text says, "But as many as received Him."

Not those that had heard of Him, or even those who had seen Him, but those who had received Him.

(A) There is a promise of Power for those who receive Him.

(a) Salvation’s promise is for ALL,Your entire family, your church, your community, there is simply no one who has gone so deep in sin that God’s grace cannot reach to where they are.

(b) Baptism in the Holy Spirit is for ALL

We note in (Acts 2) "they were ALL gathered together, ALL in one accord, the wind filled ALL the house, they were ALL filled, they ALL began to speak in other tongues.

(2) This Promise Is For All!

(a) Generally it is just a minority that will accept all God has for His people.

(b) It requires courage and committment to receive God’s promises.

(Ill.) The drunkard on the barstool don’t mind telling you why he is there. He’s there to get drunk.

Then why do we as children of God with all these promises at our disposal come to church willing to receive nothing from God. Like the drunkard we ought to come with one purpose in mind, that is to receive what God has for us this day. Many are like the old Brylcream commercial, "A little dab will do you." I need more than a little dab.

(3) He Has Promised We Can Become The Sons of God!

read (Galations 4:1-7).

(A) Your familiar with adoption in human terms.

By nature the adopted child has no claims until adopted.

(B) By nature I had no claims on God until I was adopted. read (Eph.2:12) we are called "aliens, strangers, verse 13, says, "We were sometimes afar off".

If you read the next verse you will find, "We were made nigh by the Blood of Christ." (Eph.2:14). "He broke down the middle wall of partition."

(C) Christ Brings us to God not as criminals, but as Blood Bought, Adopted, Joint Heirs with Christ Jesus.

(D) My Adopted Father becomes responisble for my all in all.

"He clothes the lilies, He owns the cattle on a thousand hills, and all the gold therein." I know my God is able to take care of me.

But The Choice Is Mine, I can either Receive or Reject.

(Luke 20:17) "The stone the builders rejected."

(John 12:48). "He that rejecteth Me, and receiveth not My words, hath one that judgeth him: the word I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day."
